Easily flashed to a 5700 XT bios to bring performance more in line with its higher tiered variant, saving £50 as of current pricing.

The xfx card used in the article is actually cheaper. But I think this is worth the extra £5. amazon.co.uk/XFX-Radeon-5700-Boost-Ultra/dp/B07XVMXBQW/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=5700&qid=1582893642&sr=8-2

Currently 1-3 months delivery so only good if you can afford to wait a little. But on the plus side if something better comes along in the mean time you can just cancel.

Given the ongoing driver issues with the 5700 series, if you just want a simple plug it in and go experience this may not be the card for you. But if you enjoy tinkering around with bioses and drivers then it's the card for you

Very tempting...
Surely the 5700 XT with games for £309 is substantially better value?

It's a blower cooler, so it comes down to preference really. But if you don't mind the cooler then yes it's better value for the games and higher tier model out of the box
Or you could get one of these (blower + flashes to 5700 xt easily) and save a bit more cash (with the PAID20 code).

I've just done exactly that, just purchased for a total of £242.08 delivered. Hope it's flashable but if it isn't, that's just awesome value.

It certainly is, I bought one earlier in the week and its running the XT bios like a champ.

Everything you need is here..

Be aware that you run the risk of bricking the card as it is not dual bios!
That's music to my ears! In case of bricking, I'll keep my 580 in case I need to reflash back to original. Sell that once I'm happy with the performance and bobs your uncle.

EDIT: btw @foulone, did you have any trouble getting the codes for the inc. games?
Edited by: "maschman" 28th Feb
I didn't know of any included games, not even looked through the paperwork to be honest!

You can unbrick cards using either an old pci vga card or another pcie card if you have 2 pcie or via an onboard vga.
I did it recently with an R9 290x that I got from CEX that had a mining Bios which was screwed up. I booted to an old pci vga card and used the ATI flashing tool to flash it. There are instructions on the web.
I also flashed my RX5700 to XT. I had to make some overclocking changes to get a decent boost out of it. Hardly made a difference with just the bios change.
I have a 5700 non xt just play 1080 and a bit of 1440p on a Ryzen 3600 is it worth flashing?

The card is working great at the moment so is it not worth flashing it in a few years time? Wouldn't it just be cooking the card with all that extra power and heat?

Probably not worth it unless you're falling short of your target framerate by a few FPS, or you absolutely need the highest FPS possible for competitive gaming
