Given Gigabyte gives you an extra year's, UK based warranty, I'd say this.
Any deals on Nvidia cards
I've been looking at these for a while, the performance is great but I've been reading about driver issues the last few days which are blue screening computers. Hopefully they get it sorted ASAP

Why would it be faster then 2070s ?

Why would it be faster then 2070s ?

Currently this goes neck on neck with the 2070 Super which costs £100 more and as history has shown with the RX580, driver optimisation happens later with AMD but works out faster in a couple years time.

To put simply, AMD cards age better than Nvidia.

AMD drivers are like a fine wine, gets better with age and considering the drivers are not fully optimised with the new Navi architecture, it will soon out preform a 2070 Super.
I'm so tempted to get this and sell my GTX1070Ti. But so many variants of this have such poor cooling. Oh and drivers crashing PCs... :/
anyone got any links to info on the driver issues?, wanting one but can really do without any pc hassle at the moment
Noooo!!!! I only just got mine . Paid £5 more but oh my god. GOW 5 ultra 4k 60fps. nuff said.

Already does in certain games
Hardware wise i think its better than the 2070s but the drivers don't use the hardware... the 2070s will give you less hassle and just work. The 5700xt will work in some games perfectly but others will be a complete mess...

No matter what people tell you amd drivers still suck to this very day. Microstutter and frame latency issues all over the place. Some people dont notice them but they are there and once you do it will drive you insane.

Big games they tend to work better on as they are always brought up vrs nvidia but some games they just dont care about and never get decent drivers.

I know its more expensive but to have no issues for 3-4 years the 2070s is the way to go.

I have 2 RX 5700 in my home and none of them have any issue whatsoever. Driver crashes are mostly due to incorrect installation of drivers. Usually I always uninstall the drivers first restart and then install new drivers and that way its a clean install so no issues whatsoever.

Microstutter can be due to various issues. For example I had Witcher 3 on my hard drive and when I ran the game, it was stuttering and i thought it must be the drivers but then i moved the game to my ssd and its smooth now. Open world games can cause stutter if they are on a HDD.

Obviously no card is perfect. There may be a few issues in 1 or 2 games but thats not worth paying the £100 extra for the 2070 Super. If it was the same price, it was an obvious choice but its 25% more which is ridiculous.

What about this ray lighting feature available which apparently is the next big gaming technology in games and that’s available in Nvidia ?
I already returned 2 5700XT cards. One was MSI Evoke which I got on a crazy £320 deal 2 months ago, and the other one was a XFX from eBay, got for £300. I wish I would have kept at least one, condiering how much I paid for them.

Both cards behaved the same: black screen, with game engine crashing, sound still on, or complete blue screens, with PC reboot. This was random, not always in games. And the heat....OMG! 90C on both cards all the time, no matter fan rotation.

And yes, I have tried about 10 sets of drivers, since release, and tested both cards on 2 computers, both with fresh Windows and AMD graphics installing.

I'm currently on RTX2070, no issues for months. I have built 3 PCs to work colleagues, all with RTX 2070 or 2060, they have no issues. Whatever YouTubers say, the cards are super unstable, no matter how good are compared to nVidia.

I voted HOT though, because of the price alone, it may worth the risk, if you can return it.

The cards you owned where voted the worst for cooling and performance. Not had a single issue, 95% of the complaint is from bitter NVIDIA loyalists. I'm no fan boy and own both products, believe it or not AMD are catching up. Price Vs performance, AMD are king in this sector.

Don't believe 99% of the complaint here, it's fanboyism at its finest. Do the research and buy either the Nitro+, Red Devil or Gaming OC and you'll have no issues. Go cheap and you'll pay the price later. AMD are on the rise, look at Intel. I own both brands and have no issues to report, each to their own but we all know who wins in the performance and price wars.

King on paper not in functionality... they have turd drivers... thats the issue or everyone would move to amd. Their hardware has been better for years... look at the 7970 vrs the 680 it had 50% more vram ffs lol and nearly 50% more grunt yet the 680 rekt it for months until amd finally released some decent drivers... by then nvidia released a full new card... the 780 which just rekt it and amd fell in a pit for years until the vega cards... since then their hardware has been getting better and better but still fails on drivers.

Lets hope when intel finally release their gpus next year we have a decent 3 way.

Everytime i have went amd ive been let down. Noway would i recommend amd cards to anyone. Some 3rd parties dont even sell them in prebuilds because of issues. Its just a pain.

Ofc if you only play battlefield or cod they normally optimise these pretty well so youl be fine. Thats the issue. Most people saying they have no issues literally play fortnite haha its impossible to go wrong with it it runs on phones ffs...
This or a Nitro+ for an extra £35?
Just bought one, thanks heat! But now I realised I need a new i5 processor as well to avoing bottlenecking

I believe this would be a really good choice, not much difference, but this has a very good warranty and the noise level from the fans are lower as well. For me this this wins

What cooling has to do with system freezing, game crashing, black and blue screens?

If it gets hot the card causes those problems you mention 75% of the time is a black screen meaning you have to restart the PC.
I had a R290 card for 5ish years and last month and it started getting those exact problems after a fan failed and started getting hot. Now that Card is Fried and dead which is why im here looking for new GPU in the sales. ( it was a sapphire Nitro and it performed amazingly if I caught the failed fan earlier It would still be going strong so dont bash AMD on my experience as I would have another AMD card anytime )

Whilst I don't subscribe to all the hyperbole going around concerning AMDs drivers it does seem there are some lingering issues for some people.

The thing is, and it's a very big thing, BOTH future consoles are going to use AMD Navi architecture and that means they'll be optimised for AMD hardware so my concern is that AMD will have a long term win in terms of performance from console/PC dual releases.
I bought this card for 385 in October and had to return it due to black screen crashes and poor performance even worse than my vega 56 i tried everything i was told by technician and he said i should send it back and i also found many forums with people saying the same, i would love to own an amd card again but for me the drivers are Sh*t id rather pay a bit more for a stable card i do respect AMD though for their prices/performance in CPU/GPU markets just a shame they cant deliver on release.

This is dumb... most amd badged games perform better on nvidia lol... ports to pc from console hasnt changed anything look at the current ports. Ps4 and xbox have amd hardware and the ports still run turd for nearly both gpu vendors. The port is down to devs coding not hardware.
Not to bash amd but even their cpus have a weird thing going on... i just bought a 3600x a month ago to have a play it runs fine but it has some weird volt spike thing... all ryzens have it :/ basically it zaps the cpu with increased voltage every 10 seconds or so when at idle for no fking reason... this causes heat bursts so forces the fans to spin up and down at idle until you set a fan curve to ignore it. Its annoying!!!

But the cpu performance is fking amazing its fast as fk out the box.

Amd just have some weird things going on. Give them another 10 years and i think theyll eventually pass intel and nvidia. They have been going full throttle since ryzen with the cpus. Literally forcing intel to release hyperthreading i5s. Theres no point buying an intel cpu if youre a gamer tbh its just wasted money that can go on an nvidia card haha

LOL

Oh just GO AWAY you utter troll.

Anyone reading your posts can see you're just some snot nosed teen who needs to have his acount suspended.

Seriously what the hell is it with wierdo's like you? What you bought an over priced nVidia card and now feel the need to lie on the internet ad nauseum. Get a life.

Your supositions completely ignore the valid argument made again and again...those cards performing better cost 20% more for %2-6 gain even with this supposed AMD driver defficiency.

The cheapest crappy brand KFA2 2070s with no reliable warranty is £450 compared to this top 3 branded card 5700xt with one of the best warranties @ £365. Oh and one last thing the 2070 super is NOT the 5700xt direct equivalent IS IT? No the 2060 super is so no nvidia do not do better than AMD performance wise when logic is actually applied because the 5700xt smashes the 2060 super on performance.

Thermal threshold would be the cause of those issues, so cooling would be the key. Gamers Nexus pointed out those 2 cards and said give these a hard pass, cooling isn't fit for purpose same as Evoke edition. The new Evoke GP has been launched to replace the existing Mech and Evoke by improving the thermal pad placements which caused those issues, budget cards are simply not worth it. Pay more, you get more!

This is totally not true. Do not mislead people here.
Blue screen and crashes ARE NOT generated by heat.

Both my cards were crashing and blue screen in desktop, when it was 1% gpu load.
No vendor would release cards that get super hot and shut down anyway.

For example, when I was playing Destiny 2, sometimes it would take 2 hours for crash/blue screen, but sometimes 10 times in 1 hour. It is random. Both cards behaved identical. Different brands, different cooling, different temps. Same messed up chip: 5700XT.

You might get me wrong, thinking I am some kind of fanboy. I have 4 PCs in my house, based on RTX2070, Vega64, R9 290x, GTX 1080. I really know what I'm I'm talking about, I know how to diagnise a PC, and it's definetely the drivers or the entire chip lineup.

Misleading people, no? This is based on my experience and as others have already pointed out. Sorry to say but the majority of people I speak to simply aren't facing these issues. I can play any game for 8 hours a day and not face an issue, latest drivers etc. So no issues here and I can recommend this card highly.

If this one was actually available, I would of bought it! I'm sure there'll be another later in the week, after research I'm looking out for this one too. amazon.co.uk/Pow…Q3/
Albeit not being in stock, but its in OverClockers and seems to be the cheapest since I don't want a blower....

I'll stay clear of the ASUS, I've never owned a Radeon card but I'm openminded and want to give them a try in one of my PC's.

The problem with this is that its £400, and RTX 2070's are around that price. I've no idea what to do, so I might just do nothing.
