£100 cheaper for the newly released 5700 XT if anyone is tempted to buy this.

Nice and simple graph that's broadly representative of performance.

Only one addition worth mentioning is that the 5700 XT seems to favour higher resolutions while the 2070 super favours lower; 1440p is close to the cross-over point.

Though if I were running 4k, I'd be buying something more powerful than the 5700 XT anyway.... so it isn't a great use case for the card to excel at.

Are you sure? Looks like the 2070 Super pulls even further away at 4K.

What are the drivers like on Radeon cards nowadays? my last Radeon card was a ATI Radeion 9800 Pro and the drivers where cr@p.

The launch drivers for these were buggy like Radeon 7, but releases that follow are pretty consistent. When it comes to proper final drivers, I haven't had any issues on Radeons since the days of the 5870, so on the whole pretty good from my experience.

Over the years AMD cards has been referred to as "Fine Wine" because the drivers generally start off like crap but performance actually improves with each release. These cards are apparently a new architecture so no idea if it'll continue in the same vein.

If you can, hold out for some of the bigger navi cards towards end of the year.

Seems to have been the case up until the 500 series of cards but not with Vega 56/64 from what I can see so maybe you're right. Things seem to be looking up for AMD though so happy there's a bit of competition for a change, hopefully means good things for us on the price front in future!
Fans on gigabyte cards are awful
I think retailers they still don´t know how much to price new cards. There are huge discrepancies, misprices, etc

Really? Pretty sure this gigabyte cooler is one of the coolest and quietest versions on the market and this seems like a great price! A wee bit of a overclock and this is running around stock 2080 performance afaik!

Also people comparing this to the RX 5700xt for £100 cheaper.. The 5700xt also runs quite hot and loud according to the few reviews I've seen and I'd rather pay the premium for a quiet card! If I was in the market for a 5700xt I'd just wait until august and get a aftermarket version.. Although you might end up paying a premium for that too..

Yes, a quick google will reveal all. Fans clicking at low speed, fan speed problems, high flow rattle. I wouldn't touch gigabyte tbh

I’d say neither card is suitable for 4K gaming, barely scraping 60fps is really meh

Had a Rtx 2080 windforce, bios update fixed fan problems. Never heard of high flow rattle.. From the reviews on the gigabyte gaming oc temps and fan noise where great! Obviously I haven't experienced a bad card or read about it enough.. Still think this should be a great card!

Edit: Just realized this is just the windforce oc and not gaming oc which has changed my mind slightly. The gaming oc has a bigger heat-sink and fans afaik and should run cooler!

More than likely planned these company's will do anything to grab extra cash. On a serious note are the 2000 cards even selling at there over inflated prices.

Seems like a bad (or very limited) set of games to check against. 21 games at 1440p shows a 10-13% difference in performance. Is it worth 100 quid? Subjective. The Gigabyte card here is an AIB though, where as the 5700xt you linked is a blower.

Once you start getting up to the upper tiers of performance, money to performance ratios go down a bit too.

I'd say wait for the card to be a bit cheaper, around 400-420 and it'd be a better choice. Right now I'd be holding onto my money as they fight for position.

We can cherry pick reviews all we want I suppose but I'm just letting people know there's options out there. We no longer need to default to Nvidia now that the competitor is making arguably comparable hardware for cheaper. Hopefully means cheaper cards from both sides going forward... if we're lucky.

There was never a need to default to NVIDIA, there hasn't been for years. But AMD have, in the past 8 or so years, defaulted to pumping their cards with more power and holding onto their reference blowers for far longer.

The 5700 and 5700 xt are competitive cards. It's not a crazy idea to consider them at all.

But I do take a bit of umbrage with you suggesting my reviews were 'cherry picked' when I provided a much larger set of games than yourself. That Forza accounts for more than double the difference and it's a clear outlier to the entire set of games presented.
