and before you make yourself look stupid no I'm not a ocuk/scan fanboy/lover/whatever, just simply sick to the back teeth of the posts about how scan/ocuk/whatever are the next satan/etc. got it after the first million posts that people love to **** off these particular companies, no need for someone to post such comments in every single thread.

If you have over 250 posts on the forums it is £170 still, and also it's still a very good deal taking the postage into account!

It's okay to dislike certain companies. Stop being such fan boy nerds. The ocuk forum free delivery is misleading.

I've heard nothing but bad things from this company and the fact that they charge £9 delivery on everything is ridiculous.

Well I get free delivery with the posts, that's for sure. Also I've had great customer service etc from them, I couldnt' recommend them more tbh!

Also, keeping to the deal - you can't deny it's cheap and great value!

Did you even read what I wrote? Where in my post did it say it wasn't ok to like/dislike a company? Simply said there's no need for you(or others) to keep posting such comments in these deal threads, we got it after the first million times.

How is the forums free delivery misleading? If you bother to read the t&c it clearly lays out what you need to do to get the free delivery, if you can't be bothered to read/don't understand the t&c then it's you that's the problem not ocuk.

"I've heard nothing but bad things from this company"

What have they said to you that's been bad?

Another day of angry trolling for Fowler. Has to turn everything into an argument!

Hi AliveGhost13 and Fowler002 and anyone else!

Can you recommend to me any other components to complete a pc build I could couple with this motherboard and ram deal, which represent the most bang for my buck?

I am looking to create an i5 based build for video editing, but want to maximise what I get for my money, and you guys seem up on what's a currently a steal where it comes to pc components..

Rough guide as to what i'm looking for:

i5 processor
8gb ram is sufficient
at least 1TB HDD

As for all the other minor components, such as fans, the case, and PSU - I would be most grateful to know where I can cut costs here...

Many thanks

Error, error, does not compute:

The psu a minor component? Not somewhere you want to cut any costs, unless you like your fireworks inches from your legs/face(well that's if you have your PC under/on top a deck at which you sit when using the PC).

For video editing you'd want a i7 ideallyy(4770k or 4970k if buying this particular mobo/ram bundle), but then I'm not really a video editing expert just from what I've read you're better off with an i7 due to the multi threading.

Yes, ideally for video editing you want;

i7 4790k
16GB RAM, not 8GB
Decent GPU, not a 780-level, a 760 is great for this sort of work
Good PSU (all builds) ~550W (SuperFlower Golden Greece comes to mind)

etc

If you don't plan to overclock mate, save your money on a cheaper board like something based around H97 and put the rest of the money towards an i7.

PM me if you need a hand.

I've been using them for the best part of 8 years whenever there the cheapest and I have nothing but good to say about them. Delivery is always fast, not once had a faulty product, and my friend did recently get a fault 290 and he got a new one sent out the next day, along with someone to pick it up for free.

Also not sure how the forum free postage is misleading, its pretty clear actual isn't it get 250 posts and your delivery is free.

wow!! quite a deal for a new build!!

i've shopped at OCUK online and at both of their stores, for many years now, and though i will continue to shop there i only had to have one bad experience with them to understand why people complain so much.

people aught to be aware that dealing with OCUK is a risk, because it is. they don't care about their customers.

I think after the million one comments to that effect I think everyone is aware of that 'fact'.
Your bad experience, did one of there cs staff call you a liar over the phone? I though not, I was and you don't see me going in every ocuk thread and harp on about it.

ha! not sure what calling me a liar has to do with anything, but yeah, actually they did. if by "I was" you mean they called you one too then i don't know why you feel like defending them. it's one thing to be unhelpful or negligent, but to outright abuse your customers is something i've experienced from only a tiny handful of the worst companies.

they have great buyers, and decent prices, people can see that for themselves, but places like this are the only way they'll hear about the other side of the business.

Do these boards support Skylake CPUs? I've been out of the tech loop for a bit.

You don't want to do this. You can't use RAM faster than 1600Mhz, the upgradeability is slightly less due to the fact that you won't be able to put an overclockable CPU and overclock it in the future. A decent Z97 board can be had for £66 from OcUK, about £65 for a H97 board. Why go H97?

Go to the HEXUS forums (or wherever you fancy) for tech advice.

Taking it from here will only end on tears. Get the info from a public forum where everyone can comment. Don't do it over PM as I've seen so many people screw it up it's scary.

Great deal

How is it misleading? You have to have x number of posts and been a member for x amount of time. It works no problem at all, very easy to do, never had one problem with it.

Overclockers of old was bad but it's very different now (they are owned by Caseking), I've had great service from them.

I've been dealing with scan for years and can honestly say they've been a good company. Not offering free delivery doesn't mean anything. Delivery costs are always factored into product pricing anyway.

Go for an i7, depending on your workload pick one with sufficient rated speed (GHz), I'd recommend i7 4790K, comes factory over clocked. More ram is required, I'd say 16GB (2400MHz). Don't cut on PSU, make sure to get a 80+ Bronze minimum, but get one that has enough Watts for your PC (Google "PSU calculator"). Some people have a small PC that uses 300W but that get 1000W cheap PSU, where a 400W 80+ Would do. Also, get a GPU in your budget, as pretty much any recent GPU is better than a Intel Integrated GPU at the moment. Most video editors are GPU accelerated now.

You can cut on the case and fans but I'd recommend an after market CPU heat sink, CM Hyper 212 EVO, if you want it to run smoothly.

If an i7 is not in your budget then get an i5, but try for a i7 as you need the 8 threads for video editing.
