I'm wondering the same thing, sort of, as I want two sets of these and I have an £20 argos voucher, so 4 phones for £30 for me is pretty good. The instructions say that that the base unit's transmission power can be switched off, effectively, so and the base station that is set to "no radiation" will merely charge the handset. I could have misunderstood and be wrong, though.

Siemens gigaset are typically great, I have three handsets at home, all around 10 years old (they've had replacement AAA rechargeables). Mine have a Room Monitor function which we use to be alerted via the phone placed in my daughter's room at night whilst we are at the other end of the house (that phone doesn't acknowledge incoming calls).
I don't believe this model has the Room Monitor function though it's likely to last well.
Most bases will allow multiple handsets to be registered(typically losing some functional if a different model base is used), certainly two of the posted sets will allow four handset configurations.
Bought the single handset version - also on offer (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9068672.htm) - when it was last on sale for my parents and they love it. Very impressed by the call quality and features.
Yep, these are DECT handsets.
edit-went for the £20 quid version only slightly different-2hrs less charge and 10 ring tones
Brilliant that's just what I'm after, a single handset, thanks
Panasonic Phones.
They are better that these, in many features and respects, but I have to say these phones are still pretty good from checking the specs, nice big display and decent range etc.. so I have voted HOT. (I would still pay the £15 extra for the Panasonic phones though!)
What's better about the Panasonic phones then? I have Gigaset phones and they really are very good. For instance, they actually stop charging the batteries when they're full, making them cooler, saving energy and increasing battery life.
Reserved it and they're ordering into store.
edit: says yes on manufacturers website

I like these extras so will pay more for them. But many can live wthout - these phones are still great and a decent brand, and this is a great deal!
Since you don't mention which model of Panasonic phone has these features can I point out Gigaset phones have many of the features you mention. It may sound pedantic though I'd also like to point out Gigaset is not a decent brand, it's a quality/premium brand.
Oh - your right - here they are: amazon.co.uk/Pan…AAY
Great reviews, though they are £39.99, 60% more than the posted deal.
