Great thing about these is they have eco dect.

Normally dect phones are continually broadcasting, these only do it when a call is received

Worth mentioning these are refurbs.
Not heard of Gigaset. Are these any good?

Not sure if it’s still the case, but they used to be part of Siemens. Really good phones, I’ve had one for ages

I'd say that this is the ultimate brand you need to know of phones ever. Plus they are fully keeping the DECT standard (wireless communication) then they can work with any other DECT device (as long as it is more or less proper DECT system).

They may be a bit of "german stylish look" but technically they are very good.
Excellent phones, got a couple of them
I think these are probably fine, but I wouldn't touch any SIP phones by Gigaset (S850A, or anything with the "Go-Box") as they have shockingly bad security, and Gigaset refuse to fix them!

Got some of these in work, I googled security issue with them but can't find anything?

Yep, you wouldn't, as I guess nobody else has checked... I was going to write a blog post on it when I had time, but wanted to do a full pwnage of it before I did that (call interception or something maybe).

Login to your Admin area - See an SSL/TLS certificate? How do you login - with a 4 digit PIN? Really simple to brute force in minutes using low-spec hardware . Gigaset told me they have no plans to fix it for current models, but will look to implement it in future models. Apaulling for the price!

Thanks OP.

I ordered the 2 piece.
Do people still use these, or is it a nostalgia thing?
Are these refurbs? Doesn’t mention in description..

These are brand new from curry’s. Someone on this thread found cheaper price from another company online but those are refurbished.

Explain why that is relevant please?
Brought some the other week, light and feel flimsy - not very aesthetic, they do look cheap. They use 2 rechargeable AAA's per handset (included), but obviously they do the job.
These look very similar to my set of Siemens Gigaset C595 which I bought in 2010 to replace a Panasonic set still under warranty. Excellent voice quality. Design seems rather sturdy, dropped quite a few times on laminate flooring but not a chip yet, on phone or floor. Last year had to buy new rechargeable batteries for both handsets. Grab a set while you can.

So if someone got passed security what could they actually do... I thought the device only allows VoIP calls externally, not remote access to the admin side of the system, unless you enable that, so unless someone was on my local network they can't do much, or can they?
I have the S850A/H they are fantastic as I'm sure the ones the op posted are. Very good sound quality even on loud speaker, good signal, I can walk quite a long way from the base, good battery life, easy to use, caller ID support good volume. Mine also support Bluetooth, VOIP etc and get notifications of missed calls and answer phone messages to my mobile (although my landline rings my mobile also). I could continue but just take my word for it. Gigaset are great phones. Heat from me as a bargain at this price!

P.s. I live in the middle of nowhere so not bothered about the supposed security issues. Anyone hacking my phone would just get bored to death from junk voicemails!
