Do people still use landlines? Genuine question

People always ask this on homephone deals, there's not always free numbers available for many services. So my question is don't those without landline and anytime calls end up with huge mobile bills?

Since including anytime calls over the last 5 or so years I've not had unexpectedly high bills and saved alot. The most it's cost is £7pm and sometimes even free perk. If there is a way to do that without landline I'd like to know.
...and we always know where the phone is too!

My plan is £20 PM (sim only) unlimited calls, texts and 100GB data - for the number of times i may need to use a non-free phone number i wouldn't see this as a need to have a landline at an extra cost.

Interesting! thanks for the response. Maybe i need to stop being agesit and assuming landlines are only use by pensioners in 2020

Am in late 20s. Wouldn’t be without my landline had one since I left home age 18. I Can turn the mobile off when I don’t wanna speak to lunatics whilst making sure close family and friends can always reach me on my 020 number
We use landlines the whole time, our kids don’t have mobiles

Perhaps don't give lunatics your number?
