Just buy...

A deal on a decent "grandad" razor for about £20 for a merkel basic. (for a decent one that will likely suffice for life)
A variety pack of brands & "sharpnesses" to try & ascertain what works best for you.. (thus far mine is Astra platinum (the next up cuts me to heck).
A couple of no gas shave soap (palmolive soap lathers nicely & is light).
A cheapo pig bristle brush (I use this one as my travel brush) have a good one for home use).
A styptic pencil (useful learner tool & standby for any shaver, so multi-modal)

I have very open pored, (greasy) scottish skin, amazing how much difference a blade makes as does a decent razor.

obviously there are several shaving companies that pop up deal on here (D.E. shaving).

It's not poncey its necessity, but you shouldn't have your pants pulled down & botty spanked cost wise every time you have a shave.

The "shaving tech" of advertising is mere marketing, old school shaving costs around 10p per blade (20p in shops).
A 50p - £1.00 soap stick will last you a year of use (small package, keep mine in a starbucks espresso shot mug.
Doesn't clog anything like a modern blade, so shaving = less of a bind, passing over your face witht the right blade for you can be swift & deliver good results.

Better non aerated foams with a proper razor you can loosen to wash in a single action gives far more confidence where speed, precison, & end results are concerned,

Yes, it is a learning curve, thats what the styptic pencil is for.

D.E. has to be explained to people not because D.E users are pompous, but because the other form of "disposable" is 24-7 marketing, truth be told they don't want to lose you to it because of massive PROFITS from keeping you in the dark.

Gillette hit the peak with the Mach3. The stuff after this hasn't really been good value.

Just arrived. Actually amazon ones have horrible reviews lately, not sure due to counterfeit or worse quality from Gillette (to push people to move to more expensive fusion series)

Don't be suckered in by the 'cheaper' aspect. You'll start buying different blades, experimenting with soaps and creams. Not to mention the myriad of razors to try until you find the 'perfect match'. 😁

Not me, got one as a tester (free) which was weighty but not well balanced, then on a deal here got a semi decent Merkel which positively excels for me, ..3 x cheapo Arko, (perfectly good) turkish favourite soap sticks (gone through one) ...got my palmolive soap for 30p in the end of line discount bin, which is lighter & lathers quickly but very good, preferable I think to the arko.

1 x assorted pack of blades with a nice wee tin for travelling) £3.00 for 20 I recall.
Freebie good quality shaving cream (chance) lasted me a year saved me around £12.00
Took advice re my skin type & hit gold on my second blade variant.
Subsequent deal on 100 blades for next to nowt. ..good few years of shaving for me.

I'm not the biggest fan of shaving so a good DE shave extends the time between shaves, ..offering me more vale for money & making it zero chore to do.

No need to buy lots of lotions & potions imho, so definitely cheap!
Just posted this as i didnt see this deal
Great value. love mach 3s and theyre usually on offer somewhere so makes them dirt cheap
Oh be careful, in my local Asda they had them in the razor aisle at full price!! But at the end of the aisle for a tenner
Just when you though 5 blades were the last gimmick.

We now have the Turkish heated shave gimmick lol

Wireless charging and smart-razor no less!
Pair it with bluetooth , Wifi, Alexa or Google it will even tell you how handsome you are out of ten!

I just looked up Grandads razor!

The things you find on social media!

James McAvoy of XMEN fame uses His Grandad’s Razor To Shave His Balls!

That has more honesty in it than a years worth of multi-bladed gillete / wilkinson sword advertising at least

What about an open blade I have two - sadly as blunt ass a badgers tadger now and I canny sharpen them well enough!

You can get the Gold Dollar brand on Amazon for £7 the real thing not the cartridge type!
Even if its not your thing great for a night on the slash in Glasgow!

Warning: DO NOT BUY ONE OF THE CHEAPO (METAL LOOKING) BUT ACTUALLY PLASTIC DE RAZORS.
THEY ARE GREAT FOR REMOVING FLESH BUT NOT HAIR!

Yeah but is the DE good for shaving your undercarriage?
According to James McAvoy it isnt unless you want a trip to the hossie!

I dont think the DE can do the B/S/C without a lot of pain?
I think that is your problem Gus with selling the idea of the DE these days?
Men these days shave more than the face, back sack etc and i dont think the DE has a long enough handle or safe enough.
From my memory of using my dads i got nicks every single time i used it (On my face that is!)!

But i am perusing this one:-

...these big bulk sets are of a lower quality than 4's & 8's packs, allegedly, but what's certain, after opening blades' moisturizing strips will dry out unless kept stored in sealed box, so for comfort of my shaving I'd rather spend a few quid more and keep buying 4's

...people's opinions, so that's why, have said "allegedly", but drying out issue from my own experience, so no point, at least in my case, buying in bulk
