Great kettle this is, got one yesterday, its got blue LED lights around the edge inside the bottom and looks cool when the water boils lol. Identical to the russel hobbs which is £50 (same power and capacity)

Comes in White or Black

Also got a glass door/window at the top

Is it quiet heavy? Was wanting one for my mum in law but she's complaining that her current one is heavy so looking for a lighter replacement.

id say it is light for a glass one anyway. you could always have a feel of the weight instore

if it breaks you can wash it out and use is as a fish tank lol

Has it got plastic parts in contact with the water ;usually do OR is real glass ?

Mum bought one of these, just been using it today, brilliant kettle, the led lights inside look smart aswell.

Silvercrest always make decent electronic products,

Also its not heavy no, nice weight.

That'll look a mess after a bit of 'fur' starts to build up. Poor idea for the 'fashion gullible' I think.

Or put fish in it anyway. The glass outer shell makes it very convenient to watch 'em boil

Great deal I have the Russel Hobbs version, only issue is I have to descale it once a week for it to look good!

Need a new kettle, may give this one a go

Thanks OP

Furring only really applies in hard water areas.

Great, thanks for posting. My Russell Hobb needs replacing. Love the design hope this one last longer than the Russell Hobb :-(

wish i'd seen this b4 i got one from tescos.

I have one of those for over a year now, never had to descale it.
Its a nice one and as above, the blue led look good
Also the switch turn itself off once you pick it up, not like some other that you pick up and once you put it back on the base and the water start to boil again.
The only downside on mine is that it take longer then other kettle to shut off once the water boil...
Very happy with this product

Looks good. I would go for it if mine was broken. Russel Hobbs still going strong!

bought one years ago... the cover broke in 3 weeks, the joint's made of very thin plastics... keep the receipt if you really like the looks. I fell for that.

Did it break or just pop out? when I got mine it was the same, I just had to clip it back into place and all good

Bought one of these from Lidl in November 2010, when it was £23.

Weight 1Kg. Have descaled it a couple of times (hard water area) to keep the hidden element cover shiny. Still looks like new. Well pleased. Heat added.

Which is most of england.

MandyNau, you might consider getting one of those small "hotel kettles" for her - they are very light. They are not as powerful so take longer to boil but are quieter and much easier to boil a small amount in, saving money.

Does limescale still to the glass? Live in London with it's sandpaper towels the water's so hard.

No. My supplier is ThamesWater.

Just bought last one (white) at Lidl in Blackpool. Horrible cheap quality so taking it back tomorrow. Would rather pay more for better quality

3 years warranty is a plus

got one yesterday to replace a leaky russell hobbs that's served me well and theres nothing cheap quality about it, build feels solid enough for a water boiling device, it hits boiling point and the glass and led looks cool.

happy enough with this and have had long service from previous silvercrest devices

just bought the last one in Irlam, white,i'd have preferred black, however,it performs well, looks good and the quality is fine - a great buy.

very happy with ours. only had it a few days tho. stood with the kitchen light off while boiling it on the first day. haha

Lidl Tamworth still had plenty in both white and black if it helps anybody

Thanks, don't know why I wrote still in instead of stick though. I just descaled my kettle last night, hardly used but I've been making hot water bottles over the last month of so and it was ugh.

We have the Russell Hobbs one and had it for months and only had to des ale once so far and 2 sachets for 99p in home bargains to keep it clean isn't an issue

So wish I'd seen this before I splashed out on the Russell Hobbs one great bargain!!

For those with hard water try one of these:
electronic softener

I was lucky to have one already installed in the house I moved to. No furry kettle for me even though the area is hard water.

We use filtered water from our Aqua Optima and there is no limescale build up in our kettle, no reason why this glass one would be any different.Yes we live in a very hard water area.

I looked at these yesterday. They look fairly smart (white one looks cheaper). The top filling point is about 2" diameter but has a 'flip lid' that is hinged across the middle so getting your hand or anything else in there to clean it will be difficult if not impossible. Limescale/mineral deposits will build up on kettles. New, this will look smart on your kitchen bench, a few months down the line however, I think you'll regret it as the glass sides will show all of the build-up inside. Just my tuppence worth having seen the product.

Nonsense. I've had this kettle for 2 years. In daily use. Still looks like new. The 'lid' is easily detachable for cleaning purposes.
