Glenlivet single malt 12 yr old + 2 glasses gift pack, £18.75 @ sainsburys in Harlow!

Found 5th Jun 2014
Possibly national, hope it is.
Glenlivet 12yr old gift pack with 2 glasses.
The bottle alone is £32 on the other shelf at Sainsburys in Harlow!
There are two giftpacks left at the end of the whisky aisle. Opposite the actual whisky section in the clearance section.
Hope this helps someone locally, got me fingers crossed other stores have these. Good luck

Could not believe the price!!
The glasses are ok, bit fancy, but a great price for the whisky itself!
Had to fight to only purchase 2!
2 left on the shelf!

Ooh, got the Woodford reserve Bourbon deal at Tescos the other week, I will take a look at my local Sainsbury's to see if any are available, what size bottle is it?

Original Poster

70cl, standard size!

do u have bar code??
please x

Heat added for the price and for resisting the temptation to clear the shelf

The set comes in the grey box in the photo. Size of a shoe box!
It is not for a single bottle.
SEL seemed national as it wasn't a quickly printed, different font one as is usually the case!
Barcode is 5000299213476
Good luck!

Great for Father's Day! Hot :-)

visited Sainsburys after seeing the post yesterday, however there was no trace of the offer. So possibly local offer.

Mine isn't an offer it's a comment on a forum:

It is a great Whisky you have recommended though!

Is it just a local deal then?

These are leftover gift packs from Christmas. I got the last one in my local Sainsburys.

Yeah I could drink bunnahabhain all day long if money was no object and I didn't have responsibilities, unfortunately I usually only get 2 bottles a year

Blackbottle by the same company is a great cheaper alternative, it's a blend but really peaty / smokey like an islay. Just not quite as smooth.

This is a great deal.....hope there is a bottle in my local !

too hot

It's a forum about deals, not which whisky you like best. I could equally tell you to double the price of your Bunnahabhain and buy a bottle of 18yo Laphroaig, which is even nicer. It would add absolutely nothing to the OP's helpful identification of a good deal, though, and it would really just be about trying to show off your knowledge of what is, at the end of the day, still a pretty run-of-the-mill whisky.

It's a discussion forum, here's how it works as you don't seem to understand. Someone posts a "deal" then the forum members "discuss" the deal expressing opinions. I expressed my opinion that Bunnahabhain is a nicer whisky and better value; if you are going to buy a single malt you may as well spend the little extra or just get a bottle of grants or something. I don't consider glenlivet to be particularly nice or special. Bunnahabhain I do.

Nothing to do with showing off, just trying to advise folks there are better options available at little extra. Actually your comment adds nothing helpful, just being argumentative for the sake of it and completely off topic. Now if you had just expressed you enjoy an 18yo Laphroiag for double the price again that would of added another higher end option to the debate. Unfortunately you've let yourself down though with your sniping, sigh.

I understand perfectly well how it works, which is why I (and others) find your comment so redundant. This isn't the Whisky Bible forum. It isn't the Master of Malt forum. It isn't the Whisky Exchange forum. It's a deals forum, which is why it's so inane that you think it helpful to respond to a bargain post by suggesting an alternative whisky at standard RRP, which is still double the price of the OP's suggestion. Is it clear enough for you yet? How well do you think this site would work if everybody chipped in recommending a product costing twice as much as the one in the deal posted? It's as pointless as it is self-indulgent.

Further, there is absolutely no way anyone can objectively say that Bunnahabhain 12yo is "nicer" or "better value" than Glenlivet 12yo. These are value judgements i.e. your opinion. Why should anyone care or give any particular weight to what your personal taste in whisky is?

Finally, if you're saying that you'd be as well buying a bottle of Grants as you would buying a bottle of 12yo Glenlivet at a bargain price, then your ability to judge the quality and value-for-money of whisky is laughable.

Thank goodness for your intervention. I'm sure nobody on here was previously aware that in a market economy, alternative whiskies are readily available at a completely different price point (i.e. double the price); particularly those which you personally prefer, o enlightened one.

If you haven't realised that this was exactly the point I was making, then there's little value in trying to explain it to you any more clearly.

I 'like' Glenlivet, but its not me fav!
I 'love' a great deal that saves me (and hopefully others) a bit of money!
Thanks for pointing out that Bieboshalingabu tastes better, but im trying to save me money. I wont buy Glenlivet at full price so I wont be buying ur recommendation.
