Apologies as this doesn't state 2001. I fact no date is given! Just reserve.

The date doesn't mean anything beyond identification anyway, it ages in the barrel, not the bottle (as wine would), once bottled it doesn't change much.

E.g. If this was bottled in 2006 (I doubt it was, just using that as an example) then it's only a 5 year matured whisky, which is very young as far as they go.

My Dad likes Glenrothes whisky and I know nothing about whisky. It's his 70th quite soon so is it worth splurging on the 1995 or you reckon this would be perfectly fine? He likes his whisky unlike me

Hmm.....well I tried to reply to this comment earlier and was going to recommend you an excellent limited edition single cask version of Glenrothes from an independent retailer - my comment was moderated and I then received a message from HUKD saying I couldn't mention the retailer....no idea why as I thought this site was all about recommendations!! Anyway the other thing I just wanted to say is be careful if you're ordering something like this from Amazon as a gift....because the boxes have cut out sections and are fragile they tend to tear and get beat up easily - Amazon never bubble wrap whisky bottles. it doesn't matter if it's for drinking but if its for a gift you want it in pristine condition.
These dated bottles seem a bit like a marketing scam to me, trying to give the impression that the whisky is aged much longer than it actually is.
You can find a much better Speyside at that price mark in my opinion.
£4 more gets you a 15 year old Glenfarclas and that's where I would spend my money.
I ordered this andwas sent the vintage reserve, so ridiculous!!!!

Hope you complained - they will likely send you a replacement and allow you to keep the wrong one too
