Leaving this up here for pure comedy value...read the comments for context!

OK, here goes.

Maplin sell the Franzis Electronic Project Kit for the Raspberry Pi which normally retails for £49.99 (terrible value for money as it includes the Pi 2). At the current price point of £34.99 it is still not brilliant value

However!!!

Maplin are also discounting the new Franz kits which come with the Raspberry Pi 3...at which point this becomes cracking value, especially with Xmas fast coming up.

I have attached my screenshot and receipt showing the clear Pi 3 kit sold at £34.99 and Maplin are giving away £10 in money off vouchers to be used from the day after your purchase.

The kit includes

Raspberry Pi 3
160 page book with project examples
LCD display to send text
10 LEDs
port-expander
25 resistors
a variable-resistor
GPIO-connecting cable for constructing electronic circuits.
2m of insulating wire and
two cables with crocodile clips

It clearly says:
• Includes LED lights, an LCD screen and lots more components
• Create a random number generator with LED lights, control the LCD with Python and more
• Enter into the world of science technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)
• Great kit to build electronics projects with the Raspberry Pi (not included)
• Comes with a 160-page handbook with detailed project ideas
• Suitable for ages 14+
• Raspberry Pi not included with this kit

What can I create with this Raspberry Pi maker kit?
This kit comes with lots of components you can use with your Raspberry Pi (not included). to make a range of projects. Some of the things you can create are dice with LEDS, controlling the LCD with Python, interactive status display, ticker on the LCD screen, Digital clock on the LCD binary clock and whatever your imagination decides.

In addition to these electronics projects you can also use your Raspberry Pi to improve or develop skills in computer programming, for browsing the web, connecting a camera using its camera port or simply using it as a media centre to play your favourite films.

What comes with the bundle?
This kit includes a 160 page book with project examples, an LCD display to send text to and 10 LEDs to provide a quick visual element to your project. You will also find a port-expander, 25 resistors, a variable-resistor and a GPIO-connecting cable for constructing electronic circuits. In addition there’s 2m of insulating wire and two cables with crocodile clips which make connectivity simple and enable re-usability of your components.

The useful set of breadboards included will make it easy to re-use your components in multiple different projects without needing a soldering iron or having to leave them inside one single project.

Yup, definitely says no Pi included. Have you opened the kit yet?

WOW! I was standing with 2 engineers at the time of purchase and none of us saw the **tiny** writing which says "Not included" at the very bottom of the box in Font Size 3.

We all saw the Raspberry Pi 3 in size 20 in bold red though.

That is going back to Maplin! Raging.

This could be a face palm meme thread.....awaiting op to open box lol

No, it is going back now. Just said above. I was standing with 2 engineers at the time of purchase (lunchbreak for the tech team) and all were nodding going "Great deal. Rasp Pi 3, really surprising."

Now we have just all crowded round the box to see the tiny writing on the bottom saying "Pi not included". It is right underneath the Size 20 Bold Red box saying "Raspberry Pi 3".

Even I might be tempted to get interested in a PI If it was free

It is a definite facepalm haha but I can laugh at myself. Maplin however are getting it right back in an hour.

Think they're a bit more upfront about the not included part on the website. Easily done though, especially when something looks like a bargain!

dont forget nus card holders get 10% instore too

Lol oh dear

I opened 10 HUKD accounts and used all of them to vote cold, for using the word glitch....

Ha, wish I’d held off for a few comments to appear before I drove to Maplin! Just got there now and spotted the problem
