Just seen this come up on my Flash Deals page...Not sure if you can request a UK charger (listing says, "we will send correct adapter for your country"
- Lenovo Store replied to me and said it will come with an EU charger, assume it may be of those horrible adapters supplied with it (?) which I fling in the bin!).

TechUtopia's unboxing/review of the Lenovo K5 Pro (and comparison with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5) was of the 4GB RAM version, but here's his summing up of the camera/video footage (6GB version has the same cameras):

Yeah, band 20 isn't in the details but if it is the Global version like it states the specifications should be in line with these, with the full band support: m-gsmarena-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s…0.1

(for some reason the copy/pasted link doesn't work here, but it works on the original thread/comment)

Re the Band 20 conundrum, I would check with the seller before purchasing.

Edit: I've asked these questions, I'll let you know if/when Lenovo reply (the response was just an instant auto-reply)39923520-WcXFX.jpgEdit: Got a reply a few hours later (basically Lenovo say the K5 Pro Global Version doesn't support Band 20/800MHz) - see here

Another Edit: I'd disregard sio's comment, so I've scored it out. Well-meaning though it is, it's not accurate (about the K5 Pro Global Version operating on Band 20/800MHz).

Still the same price for the Standard 6GB/64GB, maybe you're choosing the add-ons.

At £105.01 (presumably with £3.12 off with the coupon?), the 6GB/128GB version of the Z5S in beige (???) looks extremely cheap.

I have looked hard at this phone before & what's always put me off is the lack of updates. Xiaomi aren't perfect (my RN5 is unlikely to see anything new now) but they still set a standard which others can't match.

Well it all comes down to price, you simply can't get anything with 6GB ram and snapdragon 710 for that price.

I have just got a Z5s, flashed the global stock rom and stuck nova launcher on it, removed/disabled all the chinese apps. And so far I have been very impressed with the Z5s. It is a spare/secondary phone for me (I have an S10+ as my main phone), but I would be happy to use the lenovo as a daily driver. It is very fast and stable, even the camera is actually decent - I have gcam loaded onto it, and the photos are really good.

An extra 9 quid for snapdragon 710, android 9 is well worth it IMO - the only disadvantage is the smaller battery. But mine can last easily a day and over 5hrs+ on screen time (playing skyforce!!!!)
Smartphone for this price? unbelieveable.... If fully charged, how long does the battery stands for?
Doesn't get very good reviews

Gah, this is an amazing deal but the lack of NFC is a deal breaker for me. It's surprising how much you become semi reliant on Google Pay after using it a few times, it's got me out of a couple of sticky moments in the shops and I consider it an essential function of my phone now.

Also, can someone explain what the Band 20 issue is?

You what? Speak English... You sound like an AliExpress seller.

It's worth noting that the likelihood of you getting hit with import duty from AliExpress is quite high these days but then at least some tax is actually being paid.

Says FAST SHIPPING/IN STOCK on the main image, though, of course, China post is a bit of an unknown quantity at the moment. Maybe it depends which region it's shipped from?

I'd take it as a positive sign that Lenovo Store replied to my message in about 3 hours - whereas another seller I bought from on the 23rd January hasn't replied at all. Yet.

I've never owned a Lenovo phone (only played around with a K6 Note from Amazon Warehouse) but from what little I know, software updates may be an issue. Not sure about the K5 Pro and K5s - will try to find out.

Very brief thread about the K5 Pro on Reddit from nearly a year ago (discusses rooting - though there's a newer xda thread about unlocking bootloader/TWRP here)

Is this with the Chinese stock rom or the aliexpress hacked one? I'm on Chinese stock rom and don't get that issue
It was late when I posted this and I wasn't sure how Hot it would get, so didn't look for cases or screen protectors.

Also, can someone explain what the Band 20 issue is?

In a nutshell, Band 20 is needed for O2 LTE (and the providers that piggyback off the O2 network such as Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, see here). Think VoLTE is only provided by O2 themselves (?).

UK Frequency Bands: Check If Your Device Works On UK Mobile Networks

Review Tips' website badly needs formatted properly, but this article may be useful too, here

I've heard about "Spectrum Re-Farming" but O2 were elusive about offering details, last time I read about it in 2016.

A newer thread/announcement from O2 about this, from April 2018
“O2 will initially utilise its 2.3GHz spectrum in London, with other UK cities to follow in the coming months, including Edinburgh, Newcastle and Leeds.” (2300MHz doesn't apply to this phone, alas)
39927896-XYrPO.jpgThread from October 2019 about SRN (Shared Rural Network) plans for O2, and an upcoming Spectrum auction in 2020, here

What actions will be taken by the different parties to achieve this outcome?
  • The four mobile operators will transform their different rural networks in to a single infrastructure asset they we will all share and use and invest in its expansion.
  • Ofcom will consult on removing coverage obligations from licences in next year’s spectrum auction.
  • The Government will deliver planning policy reform to make the provision of mobile infrastructure easier, quicker and more cost effective and allocate a modest level of investment to support the provision of mobile infrastructure in the more remote rural areas.

Page about SRN from mobileuk dot org here

If I'm understanding this correctly, it could mean in the future that concerns about UK coverage with China phones will soon be a thing of the past? Not sure - may just mean that rural areas have better overall coverage? Happy to be corrected!

Don't be ruddy daft - scaremongering about this gets ridiculous sometimes! There's a sticky about this subject from sisqoboy already:

Delivery sometimes could be long especially now due to the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak. The virus doesn't survive long on an object and you can find out more about the latest updates of Coronavirus by clicking HERE! (https://sale.aliexpress.com/country@UK/__pc/Novelcoronavirus.htm)

As I said above, Lenovo Store replied to my query within a few hours, which bodes well for delivery, but of course I can't say for sure.

In contrast, another seller I also got in touch with hasn't replied yet (I'm waiting on an Aliexpress order from 23rd January).

I shall be spraying my new Mi 9 Lite arriving tomorrow from China with Bleach/Disinfectant and any kind of Anti-Virus product available.

Soo funny
It's a good price for an iffy product, but heat regardless. NFC isn't the issue these days that I always thought it would be - a curve card in my phone saw to that, and was the reason switching to a pocophone wasn't the issue I expected it to be. Equally 6gb isn't the boon it should be - this phone has poor ram management, and handles as a result worse than a well optimised 4gb phone like a redmi note.

What I have found a fairly reliable guide is simply this - is it decently customisable, and can you run a decent version of the gcam APK on it, is all I really need to know these days.

The best cheap 6gb phone ATM is the gome u9.
Edited by: "johnrchilds" 17th Feb
Strange, at 16:00 (and earlier in the video) TechUtopia compliments the battery optimisation/RAM management on this phone, but at 12:02 he wonders why EIS isn't implemented properly in the camera during video recording, and wonders if Lenovo will offer a software fix (mind you, this review is from a year ago - I'll see if there's a solution).

I'm guessing this review was when it was a new release, so it doesn't touch upon long-term usage or software updates.

TechUtopia also points out this phone has Gorilla Glass 3 at 2:27
and this xda comment says,
"I found one good thing about this phone: it has a very visible giant notification LED and no notch. It retains the good old design before notches, holes and popup cameras arrived to ruin the notification and face unlock experience. The led is multi-color, however it shows only blue for notifications, red when charging and green when fully charged"
(I actually miss the LED colour notification light from my old Samsungs!)
