I have had this phone for around 9 months now and overall it is excellent. I have come from a Samsung 9 (or whatever was new around 18 year ago).

Here is my summary:
Phone glass is excellent, does not need any screen protector.
Fast charging and wireless charging has not failed yet.
Regular google updates.
Dual apps (not sure if that is a Xiaomi thing or google thing) is really useful.
Downsides are battery longjevity, certainly not lasting as long as when I first got it.
Works with Bluetooth excellently; unlocks my car/watch etc.... without fail.
Netflix and youtube and spotify (my main 3 apps) work without any difficulty.

Will I ever be suckered into a Samsung or other "high end" phone again? Absolutely not.

Any questions - just ask.

Yes, effectively paying 268 quid for a warranty
Great price I have just bought redmi note 8t you recommended or would have bought this!
Screen is too small...

Hi everyone. I don’t have much experience with Xiaomi phones but was thinking of buying one considering seeing a lot of good reviews. I am struggling to understand which one is the best to get in terms of value for money if I were to have a budget of around £250 at the top end or £150 at the bottom end. Anyone able to help and break down this complicated situation I’m in please? Thank you!

Going off your budget, at £250 I'd say the mi 9t pro 128gb (if you're lucky) and at £150 I'd say the note 8t.

There are many more in between, but sticking to those two prices I'd say this two

Thank you for getting back to me. Where can I get either one of those phones you have mentioned and what is the best known price out there please?
The one thing that steered me towards the mi 9 over the mi 9T Pro (other than the fact the 128GB was reduced to £319 at Xiaomi UK at the time) was the mi 9T Pro has a pop up selfie camera which I'd read delays face unlock.

Otherwise the 9T Pro has a bigger battery but forgoes wireless charging and has a very slightly inferior camera.

Any answer would basically boil down to if you were happy to buy from sites like Aliexpress, Gearbest etc, i.e. you have to accept the lack of warranty and longer delivery times for the (in most cases) much cheaper prices, as is most definitely the case here. If you are happy to go down this route then I can't see anything to disagree with in Switchy's post above.

Thank you for replying to me. I’m happy not to have the warranty etc but just wondering who is doing the best deal even if we looked at going Ali express just as long as the phone will work in the UK and I’m hoping it works whilst I am on holiday too. Anyone know where it is currently going at the best price please?

Check my post history from last couple days, I posted the 9t pro at the cheapest currently available, and the 8t was posted yesterday for £128
I have a Note 7 and love it. Very impressed with Xiaomi and will stick with them from now on. Not sure what your getting with this one that isn't almost like the Redmi Note 8 for a hundred pounds less.

Superior processor, wireless charging, better camera. But all these are subjective of course.

Quite a lot to be fair but only the individual could decide if the extra 100 quid is worth it to them.

I have a Redmi Note 7 and can't fault it. It's under £150 as is the Redmi Note 8 . This phone has an amoled screen and three cameras with a faster processor but it's mm it worth £100 more imo.

Any Xaomi, whether it's the Redmi or Mi range would be a great buy. It's an iPhone and Samsung all rolled together for a fraction of the price

Be wary of import tax at customs. Didn't happen to me (on two phone purchases) but you have to take that into account

I think I just love the Note 7. Does everything apple and Samsung's and had before did and more . Cost me £117 which is just stupidly cheap.

They do seem to bring a new phone out every 2 weeks though!

Ok thank you everyone. I’m probably being stupid but I think someone has posted a thread for the note 8t at around £127 but I can’t seem to find Mr switches one as I would trust those threads more and would be open to his guidance. Either way I don’t want to overly bother everyone so thank you all for your help and as you can probably tell I’m very new to HUKD so please bare with me guys. Thanks again!

The camera on my note 7 is 48mp. Lovely pictures. I maybe don't use mine so much for games, music and photos/video so the processor might not cope so we'll of I had more on the phone.

Yeah, that's 100% fair enough, for what you use it for, I'd say save £100 and get either that or the 8t

Processor and cameras basically.

The 8t you tlreferred to earlier posted by someone else Is the one I was referring too.
Thinking about it more, I kind of side with the poster earlier who cast certain doubts over the 9T pro due to its pop up selfie cam but my concern wouldn't be the delay in taking the photo, it would be more to do with buying a phone with that sort of tech without a warranty. I heven't any personal experience by the way so may be talking rubbish but it just seems to me there's more that can potentially go wrong with this sort of device compared to one with a built in selfie cam (even if you have to endure a teardrop notch) and I would be fearful of that happening and having no warranty to fall back on.

Like I say, may be talking rubbish, just a gut feeling.

What sort of battery life are you getting then? How many hours screen on time?
Hey mr switch what phone/phones do you have just curious??
Bought a Note 8 Pro. 3 in total actually. The other two for my father and niece for Christmas. Fantastic phone but still can't say I'm not tempted by this. How does it stack up against the Note 8 Pro?
