Camera any good?

The camera in natural daylight is very good and the portrait (bokeh effect) is excellent. It focuses on the nearby subject matter and softens the background to really take cracking shots.

The video is good too but, as is the case with most of the lower end cameras, the night time shots are poor/okay. It shouldn't put you off though.

I recently installed the Google Camera which does greatly improve many of the photos and has some really neat additional features such as Electronic Image Stabilisation, a VR mode etc. This is a must have app as far as I am concerned and can be installed by searching for 'Google Camera HDR+ and EIS on the Xiaomi Mi A1 without Root' which will take you to the XDA developers website.

Cheers dude.
Good spot as usual @Mrswitch although it'll keep on getting cheaper because the A2 will be released tomorrow in India
Dealing with their post sales department when it breaks is no fun

Brilliant conversation

I enjoyed it. Good deal BTW.
Fantastic price for this phone. I picked up the 64gb version from AliExpress and few months back and have been really happy with it. The Android one os is very clean too.

Hmm, have you had any first hand experience then?

It's pretty good, it's not going to challenge the flagship phones, but it's a fraction of the price. I quite like the twin lens set up and portrait mode; it uses both lenses simultaneously to throw background out of focus.
Xiaomi build quality is fantastic, hot deal.
I'm hoping this falls below £100 At some point
Seller also offers a coupon for £1.46 off orders over £101.32, so you can actually get this for £110.61.

I bought one earlier today from a different seller for about £2 more. Good find so have some heat!

Got a note 4. Brilliant phone for the price but camera really poor quality.

a1 stands for android 1, so doubt it would be called a2.
Hi guys,

I'm using a beat up Samsung S6 at the moment. Would this phone be better spec wise?

My battery life ion the s6 s terrible and my camera is broken and I'm looking for a new phone.
What’s the display and camera like.
Friend has a Redmi 5A and the display and Canera are pants IMo.

I wouldn't say it was a poor camera. It's not flagship but it's half decent.

Is that the redmi note 4 . I have got 1 lot of people we're saying camera quality isn't very good but to me it seems really good vs my old phone Samsung galaxy S5. Which did have a crap camera worse than no4.
Now that so many of the Nokias are on Android One, it's better to buy one of those from an actual UK seller.

Bought a Redmond note 4 X from Ali express on 21/5/17 was great until the other day, the battery life rapidly drained, would show 30% then die, would charge it up full only for it to plumit rapidly again and again, flashed different roms to etc nothing has helped. Same story for the mi max I bought on gumtree a while ago...... I raved about the phone for ages and really thought id got a winner.... But less than a year ??? buyer beware!

Exceptional price for an exceptional smartphone.
If you'll be okay with 20ish GB onboard storage then this deal is a 'Major Go'.

Any existing Mi A1 owners we now have the basis of the 2nd generation spec.

NB the link is Chinese version:

Note the included USB Type C to 3.5mm Jack connector

Yeah it is, I like to photograph my children and unless it's got good light the photos are easily blurry, same goes for recording. Previous phone was z3 which had good camera. Really rate xiaomi phones just want a average camera that won't blur.
Really nice phone BUT be aware that this phone has no NFC.

Thanks for the review. My note 4 takes good photos if conditions are perfect. Inside the house where light isn't always perfect it struggles.
I just got this phone and while still testing it, so far I have to say: I was shocked what high quality build it has... I mean this feels like a flagship phone. Absolutely LOVE Android 1 (so fast, no manufacturer added B.S.), and yes updates are very fast in fact the phone received the latest monthly patch as soon as I turned it on.
Only started to use some games on it, so far they are very fast without any lag but I have to keep testing of course as it's only been a few days. The camera is solid, though not the same (obviously) as the S9 or iPhone X, though so far it's very capable. Overall the phone is absolutely great and the price just confirms how much we are getting over charged for the "Big Company" phones. I really hope Xiaomi will continue this line of phones. For me this phone brings back memories and feel of the classic Nexus One.
Thanks for the post OP

Fyi you can get the 64gb white and gold on eBay for 147 delivered within a week, with no import charges
It's great having a phone with great specs but the battery must be decent
I've got the mi A1 64gb and I really like the camera. As above it functions best with good light but then the photos are excellent.

From personal experience the camera is much better than the one on an iPhone 6. Haven't used the newer iPhones to compare.

I'm sure there will be a better camera out there but this one is good out of the box, better than a lot of compact cameras I've used!

Battery wise, it lasts me two days when I'm at work. Over a full day when I'm at home. I leave everything switched on (Bluetooth, WiFi, data etc.) I also have the screen bright as I prefer it like that.

I have had the Redmi Note 4 for about 6 months and it is great....

Worked out of the box with no tweaking

Gets updates every week

Camera was ok but if you go into settings and change a few things its a lot better, there is a tutorial online if you google it..

Battery is out of this world , I have everything on all the time , (Bluetooth, wi-fi, etc) and its sitting next to me with 37% showing 26 hours after coming off charge, so will last the rest of the day.

Too much, warranty is based in Poland, they send the phone back unopened, the chat line promise to help and do nothing, you are upgraded eventually to priority, after weeks of no response , they refuse to help. The Xiaomi phones are great if they work but the sales after service is non existent.
