Any idea how long for delivery is roughly?

Not me, others can answer better, I've only bought 2 thing and both arrived in about 10-15 days.. I know experience varies but it looks like more expensive=faster... My wife's phone arrived in 15 days, the case for it hasn't arrived 2 weeks later..
do you really have to wait 43 to 60 days for free delivery? has anyone ever got one sooner from this company?

It is of course different per seller, but it's rare that it comes more than 2 weeks in my experience.

thanks but don't know whether to take the chance on it arriving before christmas, do you usually get stung with customs charges on phones?

I can't really comment on that sorry i have only ever got stung with customs once for a dash cam but even then, the amount was valued less.

You technically 'should' get customs (because UK 20% VAT etc) but usually they value it less and/or route it through Europe so it doesn't

I think it is quite likely it would come before Christmas but I wouldn't bank on it because the sellers would've been busy with 11/11 and Black Friday sales.

There isn't a hope in hell this will arrive pre Christmas, but it is also unlikely that are that price you will get hit by customs charges. It can be had from Europe on eBay for about 15 quid more pre Xmas, so it kinda depends how urgently you need it.

thanks i'm going to have a look now xx
I purchased the Mi A2 from them, at the time it was £112, and then got hit with a £34 surcharge from both customs and the post office upon delivery. Got a note from my postie to say I needed to pay within 7 days or it would be returned.
I ordered a Mi Max 3 from the Xiaomi Mi Store and it arrived in 16 days
Edit: No customs charges for my order.

The phone I'm using at this moment was bought from a seller on Ali Express. It took almost 2 months to arrive and the wait was excruciating. This was longer then what they had quoted on the sales details. I never got a satisfactory response from the seller, so complained to Ali Express, still no joy. So I just waited and vowed never to order on Ali Express again. I'm sure most people must have a reasonably good experience but be prepared to wait, just in case it takes longer.

I ordered this same phone on the 19th of November and according to the tracking arrives in the uk a couple of days ago but still waiting for delivery
Last three things l ordered were customs cleared.
1. Xiaomi fit band
2. Dash cam.
3. Most recently a drone luckily

I didn't pay the charge as postie hadn't notice the sticker not to release the parcel unless the charge is paid. It was about £11.

I started wandering whether Royal Mail started to profitier from levied they handling fees - £8.

My last order on Aliexpress for me was this.. Ordered 15th Nov. . China to UK 15th to 23rd, UK port to me 23rd to 29th... but that wasn't this Xiaomi shop, it was Vernee Official for this phone... aliexpress.com/ite…Rjc
I've just edited the title, I copy/pasted/edited the wrong camera spec... 48M main camera and 32M selfie camera....(the original post only said 32M cam)...
just out of curiosity, what would the total of the import fees be if its caught i.e VAT + custom duty, if say i bought an item such as this for £120 on Ali-express. Also, i thought customs duty only applies to items with value exceeding £135?, so you would be only paying VAT (20%).

Can someone help as i am really interested in buying using a phone from Aliexpress

Looking at the Mi A3 with this seller, says ships from eu by Ups. Detail says shops within 30 days and a refund if later than 02/04 (2nd April. Or 4th of Feb?).
I bought mi a3 from him first time and it has been delivered in less than a week I can't comment about time frame he is given on Ali

Not sure about this value, but a £45 phone cost me £3.17 in VAT and £8 from theiving Royal Fail....
However I think it was declared at about $25.... somewhere there is a customs calculator, I'm sure someone on here can link it.?

Yes, im aware of it being declared a lower value such as $15 or whatever, but is that the value that is used to calculate the 20% on top or is it the 20% on top of the value you originally pay for the phone?.

Yes, i have read through that, so if the phone costs £115 such as the above deal, that means i should only be paying the VAT (20% of £115) on top if imports catches the item, with no customs duty as the cost is below £135?.

Afaik custom duty doesn’t apply to phones, only vat, though I’m happy to be corrected.

That's my reading of it, even though "gifts" under £39 are exempt it's not like your PAYE where the first bit is free you pay on the lot.

Most AliExpress peeps will "under declare" the goods value to lower your costs if caught, but I don't think any will do it as £14.99 because it will right royally naff the HMRC off and they'd instigate a "nab every parcel" policy for that supplier...

The underdeclaration on mine probably saved me about the same as the RM £8 handling fee so I didn't win or lose...

Some suppliers offer DHL with something like a "customs guarantee" where you won't pay (or they'll refund?) but it costs a bit...

It's only the value (£135) that decides if customs duty applies .

Right thats fine, i dont mind paying the VAT on top, so im assuming you it would be something like £115 + £23 (VAT) + Royal Mail handing fee £8?, so the total would be something like £146.
