Yes I would, you're right
Why that screen res? Utterly stupid decision. No from me I'm hoping the CC9 is the new A3 and maybe this is an A3 Lite.

Pro/full whatever they want, but this Res is a HUGE backwards step for Xiaomi imo.

It's a disappointment to use the screen for product differentiation.
And this shouldn't be an A3 unless they confirm its android one. If it's MIUI there's even less reason to buy.
Have to agree that screen res is a poor decision. They must be bananas over there.
It is suggested that the forthcoming android 1 models have better processors than the cc units.

Yeah, defo take that reference with a pinch of salt

true. definitely would be a star buy if it had the 730. waiting to see, if it has the 730 sending back the mi 8

They might have went for lower res so that this didn't essentially kill off Redmi Note 7 sales. The previous Mi A1 and Mi A2 were similar to RN4 and RN5. Better in most areas except battery. This time it's better in most areas except screen res. If they do release CC9 globally it'll probably be priced closer to Mi 9T than the Redmi Note 7.
Still don't understand why they put a 720p display on this

I think they are their own worst enemy at the moment, as the sheer number of models means strange concessions are being made to make a product portfolio that doesn't wholly overlap.

It's like the 32mp selfie camera came at the cost of a cheap screen - it's a real shame.
GSMarena were saying it wouldn't be 720p..

It also has AMOLED, in screen fingerprint and IMX582 48MP (triple). Same primary sensor as Mi 9T. Redmi Note 7 has the GM1 48MP.

The name is unconfirmed but the FFC labels confirm Android One and the dimensions and model number point to rebranded CC9e. The Mi A3 name is from an IMEI database. XDA says: "This could be incorrect, but IMEI databases usually have the right information."
Strange specs! Some great, some not so good compared to other models.
I think I'd be inclined to stump up an extra £30 for the Mi 9 SE, personally.

It's a way to stop anyone ever paying £100+ for the same screen res on all the awful Moto G Play variants!!
So is “this phone” the real A3 ?

They're still pointing out the FHD+ rumour but given that everything else appears to be the same spec/design as CC9e, I would say it's just HD+.
Stock android :/

9SE would be a great "pocket-sized" phone if it wasn't for it's barely adequate battery.

Yea honestly just get the Redmi note 7/7 Pro at this price point, slightly worse CPU but otherwise similar

Don't let the battery size fool you, the SD712 and Amoled screen make this phone sip the power. Many people on XDA are reporting between 5 - 8 hours screen on time.
