Great phone for this price. $179 works out at £132 with free delivery, which is brilliant for this phone

From an official xiaomi seller with great feedback

don't buy anything from this seller, you will have to pay custom duty 100%.

You can't make a comment like that and not explain yourself?

Poor trolling, average at best. Must try harder. C-

How is delivery and custom and all that jazz?

They listed mine as gift worth 39 dollars so had to pay 4.74 customs and 8.00 royal mail fee. Delivery was approx 4 weeks. But it cost 110 approx(without customs). Had it for a week and it's a solid phone so far

Isn't this about £15 cheaper? - more looking to be corrected than be an arse

I'm pretty sure this isn't the official Xiaomi store, BTW. Patiently waiting for the Redmi Note 5 PRO Global Version though...

Looks great for the price but if it’s only a small bump in price, I would prefer the Redmi Note 5 Pro listed on Gsmarena but can’t find one anywhere. Anyone know anything about it?

Launched exclusively in India (the RN4 was the best selling mobile in India last year). May be a bit of a wait until the Global Version is available on the Chinese e-commerce sites but from what I've seen of the reviews definitely worth the wait.
The upcoming Nokia 7 plus kinda looks like this phone.

Got the 64GB variant of this phone and I have to say I love it. Got it from Gearbest for £125 on a flash sale looking forward to the pro with global ROM.

Utter rubbish. I've had quite a few phones from this seller, and Aliexpress in general, if you don't use DHL, 99% of the time you'll be fine. I've never paid duty, you don't know that you're talking about.
Yeah, they're all 'official' Xiaomi stores! I've just ordered again from this seller after buying no problems before, cheaper on all colours especially blue and gold. (Gold is £116).

Official version too, as opposed to official ROM.
Can anyone comment on camera quality compared to say an s6 or 7?

I'm by no means an insider but I would be extremely surprised if there isn't. Could be a bit of a wait though. Xiaomi seemingly want to launch in more countries leading up to their much talked about IPO (there's press talk of it valuing the company at circa 100 billion dollars!) and a good way to open up a new market initially is to put out a Global Version and see how it fares in a chosen country (Xiaomi launched officially in Spain on the back of big unofficial sales there).

New Redmi Note 5 pro was sold out in India in seconds. It will take some time to produce enough to cover just India then rest of countries.

It was but 'only' 300,000 units sold suggests they have much more stock available but are hyping it up by releasing 'small' batches. Like concert promoters do with their tickets. I'd be very surprised if such a switched on company like Xiaomi hasn't stockpiled a few million RN5 PROs leading up to launch. Time will tell.

Edit: RN5 PRO now listed on kimovil - no global version, of course, but the significant figure is their 9.7 rating for the camera (Kimovil are normally pretty honest regarding their camera scores).

I purchased my Mi A1 from this seller. No problems at all and no import charges.
There is no 'official' xiaomi store on aliexpress. This is just a 3rd party reseller with the word 'Xiaomi' in the store name. That said, it's a sound place to buy, just don't think you are buying from the manufacturer.

Bought 2 phones from this seller as the same time, but he send me 2 parcels, and I have to pay £15 for each parcel, yes, £8 handing fees X 2 as well.

I do understand that, but value $45 does increase the chance and why post separate.

Also you have to pay £5 more if you want to use paypal.

So think twice.

If that happens to me it's fine, I only paid just over £300 for the phone anyway, so an extra £12 really isn't gonna matter. They are selling on amazon for nearly £500, so all being well, I'll have myself quite the bargain.
