Xiaomi should change their name for the west, people can't pronounce it, and so isn't a recognised brand, unless you frequent hot UK deals of course.

People don't know what they are missing, spending big money on Samsung and apple these days is not needed imo.

This is true, even if they just called them mi it'd be better.
You're right about people not knowing what they're missing but some people just like to stick with what they've always known regardless of the cost either because they're brand snobs or just set in their ways, but it's their loss at the end of the day both financially and technologically.

Nice small size, Snappy 439, 4000mah battery. What's not to like? A cheaper Nokia 4.2, sorta.

Funny you can get a phone, and some decent TWS Earphones for £660 less than the cheapest current release iPhone
Can’t recall which version of Android this runs?

As @jabbatheshed said, just simply 'Mi' would have sufficed.

Though calling the Xiaomi mi 9t pro the Mi Mi 9t pro may have looked weird.

I know a girl called mimi.
I have the 7 note and it's superb. Does everything my Samsung and Apple phones I've had did, but for an eighth of the price. I may get this for my wife for Xmas. She doesn't like the over complicated smart phones. Plus I'll nick the earphones!

This was the same with huwaei a good few years back. They used to make phone for oem orange tmobile ect. They started then branding products under the honor brand here in the west but by then huwaei was getting a name for itself. Anyway see how long till xiaomi get hits with a ban. Xiaomi is in a good position especially since the huawei ban they should be more aggressive with the European market and US strike while the iron is hot.

Did you buy it from this seller and Aliexpress?
I wish this wasn't coming from china. I have purchased from there before but this maybe pushes my limit. This looks like a great phone and I would have picked one up for my missus
does this still come with bloatware and lot's of adverts being shown randomly...planning to buy this for 11 yr old, is this a good one to go for , does it have any child lock features

According to Barra, the best way to pronounce Xiaomi is to "think of 'show me' and then pronounce the first word as if it [were] 'shower.'" Technically, the first syllable is more "SHIAO" than "SHOW," but the difference is fairly subtle.

Yeah I'd suggest calling them Redmi just as it's a bit longer than Mi, they sort of have already without dropping the Xiaomi bit but extend it to the whole range including the upper spec phones which would have meant sticking with K20 etc instead of going mi9t and so on, I'd also suggest trying to simplify the model naming as it's practically a subject for a mastermind contestant !

Hence why they should change the name here, a word shouldn't take that much explanation
Can anyone tell me the difference between official standard, when selecting the black colour and the blue?

Agree! I spent ages looking before a budget priced phone for a friend, I came up with this and Huawei brands, which she'd never heard of, despite reassurance she wanted a Samsung. Fortunately 3 months down and she now wants to go along with my suggestions.
Talking about brand snobs, my daughter pays £34 for her iPhone XR and airtime. I have an incredible mi mix 2 and pay £10 per month for unlimited data on three.

She's had to factory reset her phone twice in the last few days after Apple's update. It's usually cheap stuff that goes wrong and you put up with it over the price. No problems with my mi mix 2 and it got updated to android 9!

In today's market of phones, they all do the same thing with plenty of power. Just like any car gets you from A to B. Just the snobbery value of a Fiesta or a Ferrari
