I have bought this phone from this seller before Christmas. I was waiting for shipping 16 days and empty box arrived after 6 weeks which I paid duty fee for. AliExpress didn't accept my claim. Buying from AliExpress is big risk, when something went wrong you most likely losing your money

I've bought upwards of 50 items from Ali Express including many phones and I've never had an issue, I think youve been unlucky on this occasion unfortunately...

I've bought many items and I was happy with every single one but just saying that you can't count on any support from AliExpress when something go wrong and it's your decision if worth the risk

Not really that risky.

Pay with a credit card, through PayPal if possible, and take a video of you unboxing the product so you have solid evidence in a dispute. If not Ali, then PayPal would refund you or the CC company would let you do a chargeback.

If Ali disagree then the worst they can do is close your account. You'd still have your money back.

I bought this phone and now regret it. You are forced to use Google phone and messaging app as Xiaomi phone and messaging apps have been removed for Europe. Themes are disabled too for Europe and can only be changed by changing phones region. All in all, going for note 4 to this note 8 feels like a feature downgrade

I've been using a redmi note 8 Pro for about a month now and can only say how much I love it. I had a mi9 ( Xiaomi's flagship) but it was put through the washing machine 😩!!!!
I was not going to spend crazy money on a replacement so opted for the note 8 Pro as bang for your buck it's a no brained. Well I can honestly say I haven't missed the mi9 one little bit. Note 8 Pro much better battery, lighting fast processor, great cameras and nice screen colours/ contrast....
But obviously this is only my opinion.....

Is there credit card protection when puchasing from outside the UK/Europe?
Cheaper from Gearbest with EU delivery so no extra fees definitely.

Thought so) the cheapest i can find is with some coupons from aliexpress for 128gb for £168. If you are willing to harass the seller and ask for discounts then you can save some more. Worked for me many times, 10 will say no but one will give you few bucks discount.
This or the Mi mix 2 for the same price?

I'd get the Note. Bigger battery and twice the storage.
Does anybody know of any UK/EU deals for the Note 8 Pro.

Actually that isnt the case, they are being restored soon from what I've read. I do hate the Google messaging app for one reason I typed Movie or Cinema in a text message and it wanted to give me suggestions after sending the text. It's a law and server thing nothing to do with a downgrade.

So makes sense to go for that right? Would Amazon.es include UK warranty?

Ah I see. I've seen a few Mi Mix 3 deals coming through so I'm really torn between this and spending another £100 for Mi Mix 3

Guess the advantage of Amazon.es is that it will arrive quicker.

Would I need to create a new Amazon account or would the UK one work?

I think it's a bit of both you can log in using your Amazon.Co.uk account I've seen a few lately not sure what to pull the trigger on. You can get the note 8t cheap £138 and the mi 9t works out about £225/230

My personal experience tells me that if everything goes well, then that's good but if something goes wrong then you're up a creek without a paddle. Don't expect any form of customer support from AliExpress, cus you're not going get any.

Section 75 legal protection is worldwide but you have to pay directly without using a Paypal account, as there has to be a direct relationship between you and supplier.

Why didnt you open it infront of the delivery man or film the unboxing? Thats what I usually do if it doesnt feel right.

Did anyone think the box was a little light?
I was about to order this but checked and the price has gone up to £180 can anybody else recommend an alternative note 8 pro for cheaper then £180? I've seen quite a few but want global version

I think I'll go got this. How long do they typically take to send it? Assuming it's coming from China directly? I've never used their site before.

Definitely pay either by PayPal or credit card and take their £5 delivery insurance in case the parcel goes missing.

If you have insurance then it's easier and faster to get money back but if you don't have it then from you credit cards issuer. It's just a choice:)
For anyone that owns a Redmi Note 8 Pro...does your phone have the same issue as mine;

When there is moisture on the screen, tapping on that moisture instantly switches the screen off. The only way to get the screen working properly is to totally dry it.

My old Redmi Note 5 never did this. So I'm just trying to work out if this is an individual phone issue - or a 'feature' of this Note 8 Pro
