Well the custom and VAT is a bit misleading on this so I think, there still could be some extra charge. If you go ahead please be prepared to pay some VAT and customs.

Note 9s is £205.28 from Spain here: aliexpress.com/ite…tml
3461802.jpgThe note 9s that comes from Spain is within the EU so on this no VAT or customs to pay .

Few things to consider before you go ahead:

  • Pay by credit card or PayPal so you could be protected in the case if something goes wrong
  • Likely you will have a non-UK charger, and you will need an adapter or an adapter will be attached to your order
  • Use a fee-free card and pay in USD to save a bit more
  • Delivery can sometimes take a long time, especially now due to the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak. (The virus doesn't survive long on an object)
  • You may have to pay 20% extra in VAT plus import duty.
  • For more about how delivery, tax & customs and returns work when shopping from Aliexpress, see our guide HERE!

So at this price, cold from me. I'm guessing the price will drop a lot though. When the price drops, I'm sure it'll be a good option

Unfair to vote cold. It's a deal, it's cheaper than RRP.

Unfair to compare it to a different phone.

Sent from within the EU?
They're also on ebay shipped from Ireland for £227 now. May give some more protection than aliexpress would.
Anyone "in the know" able to advise as to how much of an upgrade over a Huawei P30 (not pro) this is?

Nah

I'm confused, it says 15 days shipping, and customs covered sent by DHL, I've never known a seller to claim that without some kind of extra shipping fee

Yeah same here. Doesn't state where it's shipping from though so I would doubt its EU (not convinced about the charges being paid either)

I bought a phone from AliExpress before that had this as the delivery, but it was an option at an additional £20. Then as I had selected the free cheapo delivery, the seller messaged and tried to upsell the DHL one again...
Do Xiaomi phones like this have any issues with running banking apps? I remember with some of my older phones there were issues but don't know if that's still a thing?

No unless you open your bootloader
Still added heat, and still an awesome price.
I post these deals so am OK with taking that risk

I agree, I was just about to press the trigger for an EU based S model then Mr Switch came up with a Pro model that ended up costing me an extra £80 in my particular case. Personally my USP is screen size, battery, price ( assuming camera+hardware average) . I happily paid the extra for a better camera, faster charging and luckily twice the storage. It ultimately depends on your personal needs from a phone. I agree with the original comment that the price will ultimately drop but I simply couldn't wait that long! Once my 9 pro arrives will happily pass on any hints or tips. Just gutted my max 3 suffered screen damage and can't replace, hence the 9 pro .

If you look at the cheaper phones DHL is an extra £23, it's only on the higher priced ones..

Think the cheapest from them with DHL free is the Note 9 3gb/64gb for £164.

They also have the 6gb/128gb version for £246.50.

I personally wouldn't pay an extra 80 quid for 30w charging, 12MP more on the camera and NFC bit that's just me

forgot to mention it also includes an extra 64gb memory but I accept your point still stands.I was kinda boxed in, I forgot to add the main USP for me personally: is it has to be a Xiaomi.( I know, I'm small minded!) I was agonizing over the mi note 10 but the drop in screen size was too much for me. Max 3 was impossible to find at a decent price.. hence decided on the note 9s at an excellent price. Then MrSwitch came up with better camera charging storage etc etc with the pro. As I said I agree with your original point it's unfair to compare different phones, I also agree with you that purely on a financial basis it's an expensive upgrade. Unless you or MrSwitch can give me a link to a max3 6gb 128gb?

Just gotta be patient and wait for deals.

For example if you're willing to wait you could pick up a 128gb/6gb 9s from AliExpress for under 140 pounds from a deal a posted a few weeks ago.

Please don't buy a max 3 - it's sd626 chip is dating fast

There's always gonna be cheaper deals, so waiting for a deal, means waiting for a better deal, it's a vicious circle, a deal is a deal if you're happy with the price you paid and what you wanted to pay at that time.

I know, I searched long and hard and gave up.I found a couple of deals but asking for stupid money. To replace my max 3 I ended up with two choices, the Mi 10 or note 9. Ultimately I want the Mi10 but can't justify the current cost, hence the 9 pro . The max 3 was the best phone I had in years and I accept toge point about the chip but for me personally the max3 is absolutely perfect and I never noticed any sluggish behaviour. Looking forward to the note 9 to bide my time until either Mi10 drops enough or Xiaomi release a max 4. Thanks for the deals MrSwitch your links are responsible for my last 3 phone purchases !

What's not fair? In my opinion, this is too expensive when compared to the slightly lower spec'd model. It's all about opinions - there is no "right or wrong".

No probs mate.
Regarding the max 3, I had it, fantastic phone, camera punching above it's weight, screen and battery brilliant, but I did find it quite sluggish under heavy strain, however, I'm a very heavy user with multiple tabs open at a time etc. So I think the 636 on a budget is fine for 50% of people.
Im trying to find a replacement for my ZTE Axon 7, something with Dolby/Stereo Sound and a good camera with OIS.

Any recommendations?

NFC is a must have feature and lot of apps demand extra memory to run smoothly. so its sensible to a little investment and buy a feature rich phone like note 9 Pro at fraction of cost than Apple and Samsung.
Indeed a brilliant deal, how much extra for 128GB model and would it be worth to consider that. I smashed my Samsung S9 Plus scree. the min. cost to replace is £200 So I am wondering, if rather going Xiaomi Note 9 is better option. comments welcome.

I won't go from my mi max 3 to a smaller phone as for the process ING speed it's fine and does everything fast the difference is about 0.5 secs with there's newer phones

I'm sorry, but I'd have to disagree on the NFC. It may be a must have for some, but for other's, myself included, it's not necessary. That's down to individual usage.

I'd rather save the money and have 4gb of ram and have the option to upgrade the phone sooner than I would after spending the money 9n the Pro. But again, that's my opinion and my take on this.
