Wanted to purchase this kind of tent for couple of months. It's decent quality not big, not small family tent for 5 with 2 rooms and lounch. Down from £240 to £170, or with carpet, canopy & footprint down from £450 to £300!!!

Excellent tent and price. The Icarus was one of Vangos best sellers. It has been updated and now called the Isis.

Been waiting for this to drop in price. The Icarus 600 was a great tent before being discontinued. Before GO made this an exclusive product it was RRP around this price.

Hot, but not like you're flying too close to the sun!

ordered one. can't wait to try it.

I've had an Icarus for 4 years and used it a couple of dozen times. Apart from a stuck zip that needed replacing it's been brilliant. Easy to put up and down and it's withstood some horrendous weather. I recommend you get the closed extension (rather than the open canopy) as it creates a lot more usable storage and cooking space. The carpet and footprint are worth buying too. Excellent tent at twice the price (though i only paid £135 for mine so the Go Outdoors price seems excessive). Probably best to find a cheaper 2012 or 2013 model as the differences between them are pretty trivial.

Great find mucker. Have some sizzling heat. I have to ask though........... What is a lounch? Sounds fancy

Good price and find op, just be aware the poles are weak

Yeah, this sounds like a great tent! (fortunately, I'm in the market for a tent with weak poles where the zip breaks & renders it tricky to fix)

I took it here tentvaletingservices.co.uk/ I opted for a heavy duty zip which is SO much better than the original. They had the tent a couple of weeks and it was around £40 if memory serves.

I also had a splintered pole (in wind that half the other tents on the site were being used as hang gliders!) and it cost about a quid and 20 mins to replace it.

Really? I've not found that. I had a pole splinter in very high winds (but even then I only noticed it when I was packing it away).

What was you experience?

we returned to site to find our tent had been tied down by staff on site, due to a strong side wind it snapped two of the sections (one pierced the tent itself when it shattered). We managed to get it back up with some gaffa tape, leather man and some spare poles some other campers kindly gave us, but had to chuck it after that. It was the second time I'd had carbon poles snap on me so have moved across to a full steel setup, got a beast of a tent now but need something smaller just to chuck in the boot for a weekend away.

I'm just saying good price but worth chucking some spare sections in the car, might save you cutting your holiday short. I was interested to see that some reviews on this link to the tent have experienced the same

Slightly off topic but i need to re-water proof our tent... Any suggestions on what to use please?

We used Nikwax tent repair waterproofer. We needed 2 bottles but had quite a massive tent. (outwell louisiana 5p). It sprays on and drys. Cost us approx £18 for 2 bottles via amazon.
