How good are these for £50? Any experts out there?

They are nothing exciting, a bit too bassy in one setting, hollow in the other ... I am still tempted to buy some Bose headphones ... even though I only bought these about six months ago

Bose? Seriously? Bose are way too overrated and expensive. They're simply well marketed products, not good headphones.

these are really great, really nice quality. i bought some mid last year using the same offer from Play.

how do these compare to say the sennheiser 555's?

+ 1
My son has these and thinks they are good. I used them on the plane when we went on holiday and the noise cancelling was great and cut out all the background airplane noise. He likes a lot of bassy music and they cope well with it. the battery seems to last a long time also.

been looking for a good price on a pair of closed back headphones - just ordered - thanks!

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS HEADPHONES and great price at £49.99, by miles the cheapest anywhere in the world. Unless you want Beats by Dr Dre (which are mainly for studio use anyway), these are by far the best headphones for this money. I got mine the last time the offer was going and they are fabulous, much better than the bose ones. Great QED cabling, takes one AAA battery which lasts ages and even when it's flat you can still use the headphones (unlike others). Ask anyone who's tried a few noise cancelling headphones and these are up with the best, and at £49.99 you can't go wrong.

p.s. I have a few friends who are mixing engineers/DJs/music producers and they all agree that the bose noise cancelling headphones are over-rated.

Quality brand, great headphones

Got these last year too. Bit bulky for everyday use, good for travel, sound is ok. Good for this price but nowhere near worth the RRP in my opinion. If you have constant noise like in a plane or similar - I tested them with running tap and they do really work amazingly well. If sounds are not continuous not so good and ur probably better off with some in ear headphones. Hope that helps someone decide if these are right for them.

I bought one 6 months ago when it was reduced to £50... the noise cancel works perfect on plane! I was on a long haul for 13 hours and it blocks all those annoying engine noise! Recommended for all!

Not sure why they put the price back up and then reduced it again with a voucher:thinking: They were £50 up until early September:whistling:

They get very good reviews

Do we have any indication how long this code will work for?

Heat/Rep given!

Read a detailed review on avforums which convinced me to purchase for under fifty sheets plus a lil' Quidco too.

Thanks.

Cheekster.

Decent sound quality but the plastic tends to crack. I'm having to send my pair back after only six months as the ears are about to break off. I would steer clear for that reason.

Damn, I really wanna buy these but it's only allowed to go to my billing address which is my parents old house (they don't even live there anymore!) just been so busy I havent got round to changing it.

Got one of these 6 months ago and I think it's GREAT value for money at £50.
Is Bose better? YES, but you need to spend £300 (Quietcomfort 3) which is a LOT too much for me.

These are top kit for the money,I have a pair of the Monster Beats by Dr Dre which cost £249 and these are of near comparable quality +9 degrees from me

Great Noise Cancelling headphones for £50, I bought a pair last time Play did this offer and would deff buy again. As for being bulky??? They fold flat and come in a nifty zip up case - slips in my small rucksack easy! The battery is 1x AAA and it lasts for ages, I use an Hybrio Hybrid rechargeable battery and keep another spare in the zip section in the nifty case and I'm sorted. Great for commuting on the train - you are in your own quiet world - bliss! Great on plane too! Only downside (to me - benefit to others I’m sure) is the top quality, separate, QED cable (£20 to buy separately!) is 2m long and is a tad long for me when on train/plane - great I’m sure if at home. Does anyone know where I can get a 1m long cable with Mini 3.5mm plugs either end? - Normal 1m cables like this have plugs too big for the recessed socket on the headphones, plugs similar to the ones on iPhone headphone plugs are required.

None the less, a huge Bargain, a Mega Hot deal!

BTW, What Hi-Fi gave a 5* rating in 2007, and here's a link to the Goldring site: goldring.co.uk/hea…htm

Cheers, just bought myself a pair as travel alot on planes. Will let you know what I think when I get them

This looks like a great deal. I've been looking for a decent (but affordable) set of NR headphones for a while, and this ticks all the boxes as far as I can see.

Order placed - have some heat

coming up as £96.99 for me. None of the afore mentioned codes work. Anyone heklp??

I too can confirm that the voucher has expired (unless there's a new one?) glad I ordered a pair last night!

still working for me

Just worked for me too. The first time I entered it it said it was invalid but worked when I tried again, so you might need to try it couple times.

BTW you enter the code on the last page before you confirm your order (its on the right hand side), it took me about 15 minutes to work that out lol.

Thanks OP

Great set of headphones, i bought these when they were last on offer, well worth £50

bought these earlier in the year and have been very happy with them. As others said they downside is they are rather bulky. But sound quality is great and for long haul flights they are bliss!

I don't disagree with you that these are probably a better buy than the Bose ones. However, to be fair to the alternative, one should always take What-HiFi revews with a pinch of salt. Also their star rating take into consideration the price vs quality as value. Goldring tested at £150 says : "superb value" while the Bose tested at £275 are said to be too pricey. So if we could buy either set for £50, maybe the Bose would be the better choice but with the Bose at £275 and the Goldrings at £50, this is a no-brainer.

Buy Buy Buy! These are great!
I travel all over the world and had a set of Bose but they were stolen and I then saw these on Play last year for the same price with the voucher. These are much better. Yeh the bass is a bit heavy but with an ipod this can be adjusted and away you go. They also come with a good case for travelling and the battery life is a whoppping 50hrs+ I travelled round the world and back twice on the same battery.
I also took these to a Bose shop in Dubai and compared them to Bose and for noise reduction they were better and the guy in the shop agreed. For sound they are not quit the same but are still very good, and hey for £50 what more could you ask for. I would say that they are definitely worth the cost.

actually, voucher worked second time....:whistling:
Thx

bought myself also. Going to use them for guitar and long-haul flights

Thanks - worked for me.

How did you find the beats? I really want to get a pair (I currently have these Goldrings) but I don't know if they are worth the money. Recommend them in my case? Also do they work without the battery as the Goldrings do? How is the cabling, the goldrings are really tough!

My god there ugly.
