You mean you didn't check the Dell site before posting the deal?

Its been reviewed in a pc mag so must be available.

Hmmm. its very common for Pc magazines to 'review' systems by leading build companies that are not available to buy as per the spec in the mag, its just another way to grab the attention of a prospective buyer.. oldest trick in the pc sales book....

Taken from the review - Unfortunately, at the time of writing this means that the Dell XPS 8300 is difficult to get hold of because of the Intel Sandy Bridge motherboard recall. Contact Dell for further information.

it says around £550.... so im guessing its more

watch out.. there is a recall on i5 & i7 2nd generation CPU's by intel at present.

There is NO recall on the CPUs. The problem is with the Socket 1155 motherboards. Most suppliers are offering to swap the faulty motherboards when revised versions become available

eg scan.co.uk/sho…ews

Edit: And most magazines for this month missed the Sandy Bridge problem since they went to press before it was announced. So any reviews, etc will not reflect the current situation.
