If it helps anyone!

I got these last year after I got annoyed by all shops only selling them "crinkly" ones that barely last one season and end up in landfill. Or round ones that store less compost and create more mess.

These have lasted great, no cracks or splits.

Pro-Tip: If you get them plastic spring onion trays from supermarkets, they store 20 of these perfectly.

Classic “plastic is bad” ranter.

Plastic isn’t bad, for its lifespan it has the lowest carbon footprint by far. The only problem with plastic is the way people dispose of it instead of recycling or re-using it.

Using these pots for years and recycling any broken ones in a few years time is absolutely fine. How *was* the Daily Mail today?

You throwing your smartphone and laptop and TV in the bin then? They all have Chinese components in them. The fact you’re able to comment on here suggests you’re a low IQ hypocrite.

These are made from plastic waste that would otherwise go to landfill.

Tried using paper machet ones/bog roll ones and they fall to pieces, so you have to put them in a plastic one. Also they were expensive and need replacing after one use.

As someone above said, nothing wrong with plastic if it's used over and over.

Good luck with that.

I do reuse old plastic pots. I will not buynew ones, especially from China. My local garden centre also has quite a few empty pots that they will give away of you ask. I've also never had a problem with using egg boxes etc when starting seedlings.

Current plastic pots are not easily recyclable. This is part of the 'only problem' you see.

And please, don't tarnish me with any Daily English Mail carp nonsense.

Still haven’t answered.... what is it you have against Chinese companies?

(And by the way, those “American and European” companies use components made by Chinese companies in China)
It's a good deal. 100 pots for £12.28. I don't know about Ali express.

1) So there's no Chinese products in your house then? Clue: Your phone is made in China.
2) Why the sudden Anti-China sentiment? Is it a kind of Trump-esque, "China Virus" mentality?
3) All my local garden centres are shut.

But he said boycott, which means no more buisness, in what universe would he have to throw away items that had already been purchased, that would make no difference or sense.

Whoa! Easy there;

I was defending China (though a lot don't). I suggest you do your research into the English language, which, to be fair, is difficult. Even to me, as a native.

It obviously went over your head.

The Chinese government didn’t make these. Some moron deciding not to buy some plant pots from a private company is not in any way going to affect the Chinese government or their policies. How dumb are some people?? There should be an IQ test before you’re allowed to function in society....

Private company In China? I guess but not really ey. How would it not effect the goverment If exports actually dropped significantly?. Your last statement seems to suggest you'd enjoy living in a communist regime, have at it (when your able to travel freely again ofcourse)

Interesting to read the comments on this thread.

Seems now Billy Bulldog has realised he was wrong about Brexit, (none of his companions keen to work in British fields, picking British food, making Britain self-sufficient like we did in the Blitz, flying “immigrants” into the UK instead of “sending them back” – he is turning his vitriol onto the Chinese.

The Chinese government didn’t tell us everything about the virus?
Open your eyes and ears.
How honest has our government been with us?

oh, ffs. black plastic pots, are notoriously difficult to recycle, the scanners on the machinery reject them. there are millions of them ending up in landfill. the recent development in brown plastic pots, made from recyclable plastic, is more machine scanner friendly. that was the report in Gardeners World last year.
I'm not against plastic, where it's easily recyclable. And plastic can be made from other materials instead of oil, like orange skins, and be biodegradable..
I'm against these pots, single-use food wrappings and the like.
But why buy these to be shipped from China, when there are plenty of European manufacturers.
Yes, everything has some Chinese factory input. It used to be Hong Kong. Used to be Europe.
Logistics is global. You buy clothes made in Bangladesh, your headache pills from India, but I'd prefer locally sourced goods.
eg I'd never buy Kenyan roses but look for a British grower.
I get my Roses from our local Woolworths every Christmas.
