Still 4 left in the New Malden store.

If not, and you've your heart set on one, they're available from Amazon for £9 more

Low marks for a lot of different makes and models of Freeview recorders. The two I've had (Bush & Digihome) have been more trouble than they're worth.

There were 2 in the Chelmsford Tesco by the Miami Hotel. I was tempted but the reviews scream "STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!"

So I stayed away.

1080p freeview? I thought broadcast TV and Sky was 1080i (720p)

Sky irrelevant to this Goodmans item. When I last looked at the manual, I have vague recollection of the output options indicating upscaling to max 1080p rather than native 1080p. Happy to stand corrected if anyone has access to the manual to check.

Probably it will display at 1080p, but the broadcast is 1080i (at the moment at least).

Also I often see PVRs with really shoddy software getting good reviews, so that this has managed to get such bad ones means it must be REALLY awful. I'd stay away!

don't know about this model but the last Goodmans PVR I had was shocking. Constantly crashing, 50/50 chance if it would actually record a programme and eventually corrupted its hard disk completely and wouldn't switch on.

Not worth it in my opinion. My dad has the standard def model and it's ok, paid £30 new off ebay but for the money you will be better off buying a brand spanking new Huawei Talk Talk DN370t or DN372t off ebay. Better spec with Youview and catch up services. It's not perfect in every way but good in most and I have replaced my sky box with one. EPG is a bit slow but apart from that I can't fault it. Cost was £61.00 new including post.

You replaced your Sky box with it, but can you still use your Sky dish ? Sky dish is OK for Freesat but not for Freeview ?

I still have the skybox in place connected to my dish mainly for watching the extra music channels that are not available on freeview. I get all of the available 'freeview / freesat' channels on the sky box without sky card.

The ideal solution would be a Humax HDR-1000S but the set up I have works well for the £61.00 I paid instead of the £204.95 for the Humax. The Humax may come in time but sky have just offered me 50% discount for the next 12 months.
