I thought this was a good deal if you are after a freesat recorder with a large drive. This one has interest free for a year too if you become a member. I would have got if I did not alreadsy have Sky.
I know Very are a bit dodgy with codes but this price is without codes to use. I think this is £280 in argos.

If considering this instead of the "de facto" standard, the Humax Foxsat-HDR model (which is only 320GB and c£245 ie is not as good obvious VFM as this Goodmans model) I would definitely research how much support you can expect from Goodmans in terms of firmware updates - the Humax has needed quite a few updates and that is from a global player that is highly experienced in Satellite & PVR areas.

I can't spot on the Goodmans website that they even acknowledge there is such a thing as firmware on their item whereas they are readily available for download & USB install on Humax's site! (And that's assuming the product works reasonably reliably in the first place.)

I can't say what your answer should be - just raise it as a significant issue you should consider.

You'll find some discussion/owner experiences at the forum

This thread in particular is a bit concerning on face value

cold , just as it's littlewoods

I agree with the above. £215 is still too much for a tv recorder. Freeview recorders with the same specs are around £100 and there is no economical reason why a satellite should be more. My guess is that after the Olympics and WM prices will drop to normal price. If you don't need one urgent now, I would wait.

Having said all that, the Goodman is cheaper than the Humax. Whether it is a better deal I can't say, so not voting or buying.
