Found a review:-

got one of theses from argos and believe me when i say dont waste your time and money. As i found it didnt upscale anything on my sharp 42" 1080p tv infact it wasn't even as good as my digihome pvr 80 gig harddrive twin tuner freeview box a much better buy the only good thing about the goodmans is the hdmi thats what the one point is for

Weird, cos the review above it is full of praise!

surely better off having your tv doing the upscaling anyway?

cant see how this freeview box would work really, like plugging a standard freeview box in via scart except its using a different connection

nothing is broadcast on freeview in hd except bbc hd

I thought that too..except there's some good and bad feedback regarding this on Avforums after searching on there. Hard to fathom out!

What's the difference between a HDMI Freeview Box and a DVD Recorder with Freeview and has HDMI like some Panasonics as the prices of these are falling all the time?
And we can't be far off manufacturers putting sockets on the boxes but how could you record to a DVD recorder as the DVD recorder does not have a HD input to record from a box- or can they?
I do like the Goodmans interface for channel searches etc - nice software, used by many brands nowadays.

My HDTV has built in freeview, it wont do any better than that. Intergrated freeview upscales and minimises any loss from conversions and processing. If your HDTV has built in freeview don't bother.

I've had it for about a month now, and I must say for the price its quite a good deal! In terms of quality, I'm getting really good pictures on my 32 inch LCD by using an HDMI cable. The upscaling does have an effect... I've tried watching without any upscaling and with, and you can really see the fuzziness when its turned off.

In terms of control, its fairly responsive, and although the interface does the job there is nothing special (but one would not expect anything special for this price!)l

All in all, a good freeview box for someone with a big screen TV and don't have sky or virgin media.
