You add speakers to it and it plays music via WiFi controlled by your smartphone

Not a speaker - connects your phone (or other "Qualcomm Allplay" compatible devices) to your existing system
Goodmans Site

Looking on the website it seems to be a bridge so you can use an existing hifi or speakers with say your phone to listen to spotify, good price but not something I have much use for.

I see this getting hot! But voted hot by the people that don't know what it actually is oO

ahhh thanks everyone I don't need it all my music equipment is Bluetooth

Bit like a Chromecast audio then?

Thanks

Good God - that picture they're displaying there! It's a Goodmans One Ten receiver from the 1970s! When Goodmans still made decent quality equipment. If there are any of those still in use outside audio museums I'd be pretty amazed! What sort of market were they targeting with this, I wonder, and why when you click on 'Buy Now' do you get this:

Looks like it's being sold off cheap for a good reason, but I wonder what? Maybe not everyone has the Qualcomm Allplay enabled speakers needed to make it work perhaps?

Great find!! This is a crazy price, these cost about £50 in most places. Anyway bought one to check it out if it's crap i'll just sell it on at a profit.

Maybe not much profit, though - currently £20.24 on eBay with free postage.

It is a Qualcomm Allplay compatible unit you just need a normal stereo system with an Aux input, not special speakers.

So it turns your hifi into a bluetooth system is that it ?

its like a Chromecast audio but only works with Spotify and Qualcomm Allplay, which I've not heard of.

Surely you should be able to stream music stored on your phone?

"Supporting a wide range of other streaming services such as Tidal, Soundcloud, Napster, Aupeo & Tune-in, you have plenty of options for content straight out of the box, as well as the usual feature of streaming your existing music library from your PC or NAS."

Can this be used via a laptop or only mobile? Don't see a desktop version of the software to download?

I'm not greedy, tbh if i choose to pass it on even if i get my money back i'm happy.

Is this 3rd party amazon seller even legit? Only selling 30 products and not many reviews, could be a total scam?

Yes but WIFI not Bluetooth

Well it's certainly pocket-able.

For Spotify, yes. Anything that you can download Spotify on you will be able to connect to these speakers (phones, computers, etc)

Thanks OP, ordered Another product I did not know I needed HUKD is an addiction.

Interesting! I've got Sonos elsewhere in the house, but just yesterday almost bought a cheaper-than-Sonos-but-still-reasonably-expensive BT speaker for my study, for when I occasionally don't want to be listening on headphones. Take one of these, add a cheap powered speaker, and I've got something I can direct Spotify at and it'll play independently.

So (correct me if I'm wrong), you need one of these per speaker (according to the video), physically connect the speakers to the Modules via the Optical cable or via the Analog Audio Output, then use the Qualcomm Jukebox app on your phone to control the Spotify feed?

So people really need to buy three or four of these to be able to multi room .. But £40 would be cheap to get the house connected .. Just seems a bit faffy ..Is other stuff simpler (sonos)?

Maybe that's why Goodmans stopped selling them, and the remaining stocks ended up being disposed of cheap. Goodmans doesn't have the best of reputations, and they presumably just didn't sell - hence no reviews on Amazon or anywhere else. Too much of a gamble for me.

£40 seems cheap to get 4 rooms connected .. I just have this image of being able to play stuff around the house easy ... I know myself quite well by now and if this thing is a PITA start up each time ..It will go in the box of useful but never used stuff

Thanks OP, took a punt and ordered two..

seems this needs Spotify premium
is there any way to port music from the free version ?

Also, cannot see how to play music from my NAS...

Spotify Connect only works with premium unfortunately. I guess if you bought a Bluetooth receiver/speaker then you could stream whatever you're phone/tablet is playing that way, although the quality won't be as good and the phone's battery will run down as it'll be streaming the music and then forwarding it on, whereas with Spotify Connect it hands it off to the speaker, so you can disconnect your phone and save the battery.

This is just a Bluetooth connector similar to the ones you can get for a fiver

No, it's a different difference.

It nothing like a blue-tooth receiver.... this is FAR better quality, better than CD if fed flacs.

...doesnt even HAVE bluetooth - its all wifi, and streams from the 'net... once the stream is started you can even turn off the phone/tablet you are controlling it with !
