Code Does not work on Chomecast Ultra 4k only on the 1080p model.
Edited by: "sam_of_london" 23rd Aug 2018
Good deal, code has to be "cAST10" with a small 'c' as in the pic rather than the cut and paste code
Thanks ordered
Great deal, thanks
Damn it, ordered the other day without code - hasn't even been delivered yet
If you have an iPhone, it might be worth trying an app called Chromecast in the App Store. If you’re on Android there’s a lot more things that you can do with it, or at least it’s easier.
I got one for a tenner when I got a Google mini home bundle (£40 all in from Currys) on Prime day
Didn't think i'd use it much and thought i'd give it a try. I find i'm using it far more often than i expected, espcially when the Plex app on my Samsung TV can't play some items off my server, but my phone can.
Are these getting phased out or something? Seem to be a lot of deals ATM.

When one goes on offer somewhere, they all do. Then they all get endlessly reposted here.

I'm the same, 1st gen going on strong, can't decide if worth the upgrade
Anyone know if the 1st gen can be used with mobile data as a wifi hotspot? or does it only work on 2nd gen? visiting my mum in Scotland and she doesn't have wifi and want to stream some photos onto TV,
At the cost of sounding daft, where can I input the code on a mobile? Even in desktop view, cannot find any option to put a code...

Sadly you will need two phones, one to act as a hotspot with the SIM that has data, then the first gen will connect to that phone like a regular WiFi router.
Second phone to control it all as you can't control off the hotspot phone...

Would I be able to do this with my phone and a tablet?

Never tried that myself, but if your tablet can become a hotspot and can take a sim card, I don't see why not. Or if you use tablet to control and phone as hotspot, it should work.

Forgot to add, you will need the Google home app on tablet or phone to setup the Chromecast with the hotspot.

Just rang them, they said click an collect, just mention the code Instore and they can apply before you pay. As long as it is still live etc.

I thought everyone had at least one of these thingy's already?.

Either way, can't you just return it 'in-store' when it comes, and get yourself a refund on your purchase, etc?.

But in the meantime, you can purchase this one as well, or something?. :-)
I bought it in store today. They still display it at £30 but when you take to the till the guy had a sheet with special barcode on it. He scanned ot and it came up £22.50.
General question why does this look like one of Pat Butcher's ear rings? It just seems a very odd shape for a hdmi stick.

Is the quality the same as watching a film from your phone through chromecast as watching it from an app from your tv or firestick?
Nice find

2nd gen is much faster response when casting. I have both and the difference is very noticeable. It's worth the upgrade, or wait til the next version comes out.

Nice spot!
I've got a Now TV Smartbox ( so Youtube casting is simple) and an Amazon Fire TV box that I'm fine with loading APKs onto. Would I gain anything from having one of these too?

Probably not.

I personally use this to stream BT sports from my friends account
Went to Manchester arndale. Wouldn't sell for less than 25. Waste of time
It's a joke that chromecast's built in YouTube app doesn't have playback speed control. I got so used to watching everything (except music) on x1.25 or x1.5 that I can't live without it.

Same here. I believe 1st gen and 2nd gen are just design change but technically same. So will wait for new version this year which comes out with big improvement with wifi connectivity.
