Seen the deals with Argos, but also the same price at John Lewis. Just ordered myself a couple of these - amazing devices! So convenient.

Just wanted to check, will this allow me to cast movies, games, apps etc from the play store to my TV or are there restrictions?

It will allow you to cast movies and videos from most common Android apps. You'll also find that you'll be able to 'mirror' your screen with a lot of Android phones.

Genuinely amazing devices really and so convenient.
Tempting although I have no gripes with my 1st gen one so wondering if its worth it :/

In my opinion! In fact I've just bought one for my partner who is replacing the Fire Stick.

With a fire stick you can add apps for tv and films, this you can't

I guess the advantage is to the Chromecast that you don't need to. Most apps on your phone are streamable to the Chromecast without having to install anything extra.

I've also found the Fire Stick quite sluggish whereas there's no lag whatsoever with these.

All down to personal preference though!

It does. You just install an app called Local Cast and it can stream from that, too.
What's the added benefits of 3rd Gen versus previous Gens?

I understand there isn't a huge amount of difference, it's just faster. Better to have a look online, but it's certainly nothing absolutely major.

Just checked, it's faster, allows for 60fps @ 1080p and you can also add it to groups as part of your Google Home to play music etc.

There 4k fire tv is really fast, even the current gen 1080p version.
Chromecast is good for casting but the stick is a much better all round, I own both and only use the Chrome for streaming my UFC fight pass, the stick I have my film and TV apps to watch what ever I like

How about streaming Android Kodi to the Chromecast via the AllCast App too then?, or ... thanx.

The Chromecast is letting you add third party apps to watch films and TV? Like Cyberflix, TvZion, Showbox etc?

I guess the point of a Chromecast is that you're not adding anything to the device itself. Most things that can be added to the phone can be streamed...
