Turn any TV into a smart TV
Simply plug the Chromecast into your TV and connect to your home WiFi to get started. From there you can cast straight from compatible apps, such as Netflix, YouTube, and Google Play. It's a great way to make any TV smart.

Streaming made simple
Each member of the family can stream straight from their smartphone, tablet, or PC, so there's no need to re-login to your accounts or share passwords. You don't need to put anything on pause either, as you can still use your phone as you normally would.

Works with Google Home
Chromecast works with Google Home to make things even easier. Say what you want to watch and control your TV handsfree with voice commands such as “Ok Google, play Stranger Things from Netflix on my living room TV." It's that simple.

A better way to get video, music and games to your TV
By using your phone, it's easy to play, pause, control the volume and more, from anywhere in your home with a Wi-Fi connection. And while streaming, you can still text or call without interrupting what’s playing.

Watch what you want, when you want
Enjoy TV shows, movies, videos, songs, games, sports and more from over 1,000 apps like Netflix, YouTube, Spotify and BBC iPlayer.

Mirror your smartphone, tablet or laptop
Easily view your device’s screen on your TV. If you can see it on your phone, you can see it on your TV.

Upgrade your TV for less
Expand your home entertainment without buying a new TV. It’s so affordable you can get one for every TV in the house.

Plug In
Plug Chromecast into your HDTV and power. Then follow the on screen instructions on your smart device.

Connect to Wifi
Connect Chromecast to your home WiFi network.

Start Casting
Simply tap the Cast button in a Cast-enabled app and choose a video to play on your TV.

"Google doesn't seem to be making a big deal about the new Chromecast, and now that I've tested the product, it's pretty easy to see why. Still one of the best streaming devices, this model is nearly identical to the second-gen Google Chromecast model from 2015, only it's a little faster. The new Chromecast has also lost a very handy physical feature, and it has almost nothing to show to reflect three years of hardware advancement in the streaming space."

So the 2nd gen was ahead of its time and there's still nothing out there better. Good to know.

I would just buy the audio rather than mess about converting.

Yes.
Ordered me one. Cheers @apur32
Very good price
Just bought one. Although it says only 1 left. Not sure how true that is though!
I just bought one from my local Tesco tonight for £30 and then saw this offer on here....

I was surprised to see they have removed the magnetic hdmi that the second gen version had, and I hope it runs cooler than my 2nd Gen as it gets very hots.
Probably a silly question but could I use this to stream games from my laptop to tv, like a steam link?
I have a Chromecast. To be honest, the only thing I feel it's useful for is streaming showbox and porn lol

If someone knows what else it does, I'm all ears.

You need Allcast too. Open the stream in Allcast, then cast it.

Which Firestick do you have? I think the Firestick is the better streaming device, although Chromecast has the advantage of being compatible with a lot more sites/apps
Can I please ask anyone who has one of these already....

I want to connect this to my portable projector when I go on holiday in the summer, obviously I won’t have WiFi. Will I still be able to stream Netflix/YouTube to it using my phone without the WiFi connection?
amazing

Yes - you can use “guest mode” on the Chromecast if have an Android phone. Or you could use the portable hotspot setting on iPhone or Android (although you’d probably need another WiFi phone, tablet, laptop device connected to the hotspot to act as a controller). Plenty of articles/ videos online.

If you’re primarily using Netflix or YouTube it might be worth considering another streamer with a proper physical remote control such as a NowTV or Roku stick connected to the portable hotspot on your phone.

I have the none 4k & alexa one. Even browsing the menus is horrendously slow and it constantly reboots itself.
