Came for the cold vote, stayed for the sulking.

Why has this been expired? It's clearly still available. Mods, please restore and punish the person who has misused the expire button.

You're welcome.

Standard offers from Google for purchasers of Chromecast
google.com/chr…rs/

and T&Cs...
support.google.com/chr…-GB

... when purchased from ANY UK authorised retailer
support.google.com/chr…-GB

so maybe people are voting ONLY on the cost of the Chromecast, not on the fact that Dixons Carphone are revealing offers from Google when they sell a Chromecast.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/google-chromecast-tesco-with-3-months-now-tv-entertainment-15-google-play-credit-2088414Here is the same deal gone hot a few days ago.

If you read the comments in that deal you will see that the same comments were made. I do not know how that deal got so hot, maybe just limited awareness that the Now TV pass and Google Play credit was a standard offer which had already been posted in freebies. Or maybe the flamedeer had sent the voting crazy.

The only reason I can see of why you would order a chromecast for £30 from Tesco or Currys is if you want it before Christmas with click and collect, whereas I think the £20 Wuaki deal would not be delivered until post Christmas.

With the sales pending soon if you can wait, I am sure 'chromecast' season will soon begin which goes something like this:

Currys reduce price to £20
Amazon price match at £20
John lewis then reduce to £20
Argos then also drop to £20
Currys then drop price to £18
Amazon then price match to £18
Tesco Direct then launch their sale offer of £18 including £5 blinkbox credit

I bought mine last week using the link above (but selected slightly more expensive TBBT season) and the Chromecast was delivered in about 4 days. As BuzzDuraband mentions, the Google £15 credit (and other offers) are redeemable even if you don't buy the Chromecast from Currys / PC World.

Thanks for that - Are you saying that if I just buy a chromecast on its own from anywhere, then it will automatically come with both NowTV and £15 Play Credit ?

Yeah, It's a Google promotion not a Currys/PC World, I think the T&C's state it must be from a Google Certified Reseller (which are....)

-Google Play
-Amazon
-Dixons & Curry's PC World
-Argos
-Tesco
-John Lewis
-Wuaki.TV

But to be perfectly honest I can't see how they can check the retailer you purchased it from, The reason that previous thread gained so much heat was basically down to misinformation given by a certain user.

As you have already seen the Wuaki offer also includes one season from a choice of three programmes.

yep

mine also came with x men film and 90 days of google music. You just sign into offers once purchased (from anywhere)

I got mine just before black Friday and those 4 offers were available to me

im calling it cold because i got the same deal 3 weeks ago for 18 quid from the same people sorry

Tesco blinkbox deal isn't as great as it sounds as anyone opening a new account will get an additional 3.49 credit if you deposit 1.00

Been highly unimpressed with Chromecast since I got it. Jumpy lagging playback on everything I have streamed to it inc Netflix. Nowtv on the other hand has perfect playback with excellent quality on both picture and sound. I now see why Google bundles all these freebies with it!

No need to apologise. I genuinely thought it was an amazing deal, even though I had seen cheaper deals like the one you got, simply because this one was coming with the extras which alone are worth more than the actual cost. But it has now been highlighted to me that these extras come with all Chromecasts including the deal that you got. Its a case of Currys being misleading and making it sound like they are throwing in some extras on top, which I now realise they are not doing. For what you are getting it is still a good value deal, but it is clearly not a hot deal like what you obtained. I need to be a little more suspicious of the dealers claims I guess.
