I can't believe people are actually paying for state surveillance devices. …I can't believe people are actually paying for state surveillance devices. Loonies. It will bite you in the backside sooner or later when you get a knock from the thought police

Cool story bro. Except you can examine network traffic with Wireshark and know what information is being transferred, which is nothing beyond what they say it is.

It just hasn't gained any traction and that almost always means the product line will be killed by Google.

Could you explain how it is vastly superior? My understanding is that Siri is quite poor in comparison to Goole/Alexa in terms of voice recognition and Smart home abilities? Do you mean in terms of music quality as a speaker?

Max is awesome. Beast of a speaker!

I don't think they will kill it. More a refresh of both the standard home and the home max in 2020. As both are in original state.

The mini was undated first

A pair of home max speakers set up as a stereo pair sound very very good
Trying to check out, but where on earth do I put the code?!
Grabbed a home stardard to replace a mini in my office.

Yes audio quality is supremely better on the HomePod.

You are paying a premium for audio quality for the Home Max speaker, but if all you really want are smart capabilities then Google sells a range of cheaper devices. Also the mics are better in the HomePod and can still pick up your voice commands across loud music blasting your room.

You can use any iOS device to setup a HomePod, and there are apps for Android to control a HomePod.

I have no idea how I didn't see that after looking a hundred times.

Thanks, bought.
One Google max or 2 x sonos one?

There's network traffic that can be encrypted via VPN and surveillance resisted somewhat. But with this, there's total and utter surveillance of your every word that cannot be circumvented, no matter the lies from these companies. People are just giving this over without thought of long term cost. True story bro

Vastly superior

Stupidest comment ever, is Siri even still a thing?? I genuinely thought it died a death 3 years ago.

I'd recommend the Sonos ones if you find a good price. Having the facility to switch between Alexa and Google is a real plus. Also if you pair them with a beam you have a kick ass surround sound system!
Can the mini read audio books?

Which one of these has the best bass please? Thanks

It's flawed logic.. "they" wouldn't necessarily care about a single domestic conversation, but all this data is being stored and used for profiling. Eventually all of it will drive a social score like in China and things you've said 10 years ago may catch up:)

It's not.

Who cares about how far away homepod can hear you when it is still siri? I'd be as well shouting across the room to my dog for all the use it would be.

I assume (perhaps wrongly) that you own a smartphone? If you do then you're also being listened to 24/7. Sorry if that truth is upsetting for you.
Will Google not launch a new generation of these? It's been on the market for few years by now

No one is buying the homepod and superior perhaps in audio quality, although that can be down to user preference, not in any other way.

You can get similar quality speakers for far less than homepod and Siri is terrible Vs Google assistant. Surely the main selling point is the assistant aspect. You sound a bit like an apple fanboy
mcbaboon29/11/2019 23:38

Yep but well worth the investment fo me, you would need to go the seprate route for anything to beat this. And it wouldn't be as simple.
The speakers self calibrate themselves. Etc

Mate you have one in your hand right now. Never understood why people think these will listen to you and your phone won't. It has an always listening mic too you know.
