Most comparison reviews put Google Home ahead of Alexa, but it depends …Most comparison reviews put Google Home ahead of Alexa, but it depends what you want to do with it...

This is genuinely all down to preference, regardless of what the reviews say to be honest.
I've had an Amazon Echo for almost a year, but I have no smart devices in my house and my entire set-up in the digital world is Google based. I have hundreds of songs purchased on the Google play store. I have god knows how many films. My email is Google. My phone is android, as are my tablets and my Chromebook. I also have a TV that has Chromecast built in.
So, during the black Friday deals, I bought a Google Home. I've used it every day since integrating it to my lifestyle.

But,

I prefer Alexa
It's the tiny things that actually help me go that way too. Things that would seem insignificant on paper, but made the difference in practice.
Google Home is able to answer more things, but Alexa is quicker. If I ask GH a question, it answers 3-4 seconds later. Now, that doesn't sound like a biggy, but you ask Alexa the same question and it's practically instant. It's not something that can seem much until you actually compare. Alexa also sounds more natural in its voice. Google sounds more like a string of robotic words being mixed together to create a word, Alexa sounds more human sounding. Also, if you ask Google Home a question, it'll answer the immediate question and leave it there. Alexa will answer but then give a little more feedback about the question you've asked. Rather than you having to ask Google a follow up question to your initial question. It's a great feature of Google to do that, but I prefer Alexas setup there.

There are obviously things Google Home does better than Alexa, but they both are pieces of Hardware that can be software updated to improve down the line.
They both have their faults, but after giving it a good comparison, I think Alexa wins in my household. But that's each to their own

Is amazon echo or google home better?

As a speaker, Google Home is objectively better than Echo.

Alexa is more "human" in style than Google Assistant but Google Assistant is far better in terms of delivering accurate and helpful responses outside of a narrow range of subjects that Alexa covers.

Echo's "skills" provide flexibility but they are a fiddly nuisance to use and without the skills, Echo is frustratingly pathetic at answering even basic questions without saying "hmm, I don't know that..." It is getting better though.

Google Home is the superior product

Excellent. Was waiting for prices to drop again. Seem to still be full price elsewhere including Google store. So either Argos are going it alone or the others will follow suit later today.

Is amazon echo or google home better?

Each has their own strengths. Alexa has more apps/smart skills including Sonos, and works with a multitude of third party smart devices at present but google home has better search responses apparently and is obviously more tied into the google universe, google music, chromecast and youtube.

Very happy with my echo dots but can see myself adding a google home in due course

With 10 mins of jiggery pokery you can get Alexa to search Google by using the command "Alexa, ask Google (question)..."

Best of both worlds.
However i believe Google is better at associated questions eg. What is Tom Cruise's latest film? (question answered)... And what other films has HE been in. How old is HE.
Has anybody got an echo and home on same network? I wondered whether they could both communicate with the same smart devices.
i hope they look at integrating a smart hub into one of these soon so you dont need extra one attached to your router. like the new echo

I have a Google Home and a Google Home Mini and use both primarily as radios. They just connect via my home WiFi and in truth I don't know how they connect to the radio ... but they just work. The ability to change station/volume/turn off by voice is really useful. Very happy with these Google products.

That's never worked for me. Alexa always checks with Bing.

Is amazon echo or google home better?

I have both - for audio quality the Echo sounds way better plus you can subscribe to Amazon music unlimited for only £3.99 a month and stream over 40 million song's on the single Echo plan.

The Home is smarter however but if I wanted a Home all over again I would go with the Home mini because I am not impressed with the audio quality of the full sized Home.

I also found the Echo slightly better for smart home compatibility.
