I actually returned mine yesterday as I found them a little lacking.

I actually bought one for the free calls but you need to be sitting so close that it loses any real value at all.
Coming up at £78 when I put 2 in my basket.
Ah, just seen this:

Add 2 Google Home Mini to your basket. Discount will be automatically applied at checkout for Home Delivery orders. For Reserve and Collect orders discount will be applied in store. Not available in conjunction with other offers.
So far I a, asking Siri for stuff, Alexa for stuff do I really need to ask Google for stuff too ? Just getting too confusing just to turn my Nest heating up

No, if you already have Alexa & Siri working for you then it doesn't sound like you need this too. Just an alternative.

What search engine do you use? If Google the home is a much better choice in my opinion.

If you can programme at all Alexa devices are far better as you can customise them to a far greater degree.

However if all you want to do is control the heating stock with what you have..

Everyone I call via Google Homes complain about how there's too much echo and they can't hear me. When I called our answer phone though it sounded ok to me.
My only real complaint about these is that Google need to get them to auto restart/reconnect to WiFi if they lose connection. Every now and they I have to power cycle them to get them back on the WiFi.
So my Alexa’s I have (4) is pretty awful at listening to which room I tell it too turn off/on is this gonna be much better?
Alexa turn kitchen on. Ok, then nothing happens. Turn on monkeys room (cos she wouldn’t understand Isaacs room) which room would u like. Oh ffs just work at doing ur job. Do these also do colours so kitchen red for example

mine is two, and there is no dust around speaker, it suppose to be 360 microphone, feels like i talking to a person hard of hearing. i have to be facing device and no noise for it too hear me . and that's if it hears you first time, half the time i gotta raise voice then the other dot picks it up , and i have a command called sleep, which turns off light as i about to go sleep but axela hears the command play and starts playing music. i wonder if these are any better.

They have been a bit better lately but sometimes they just refuse to reconnect until you power cycle them.
I got frustrated with Alexa it couldn't give me the traffic on my journeys. I realised Google could when I tried it our at Malin so I bought one.

Unfortunately when I ask for the traffic on the M6 the problem is always by Kendal. Got a sale out of me, but was a bit annoying. As I use android it was easier to integrate and seemed more functional. Trouble is my phone which is always with me decided to respond to Ok Google as well.
They still have a long way to go. A long way to go. I have two but other than turning lights on and off I struggle with anything else. Anyone tried ordering from Asda using it? Such a frustrating experience the thing nearly gets thrown out of the window.
£34 is the usual 'reduced' price for these which comes around regularly. Everywhere.

£68 for 2 is good if you want 2 but £39 for one is not fantastic unless you need one now.

Otherwise better to wait till the next lot of £34 deals come around. They will.

How do they work with the light. Do they get the right room and work all the time?. I’m sick of my alexa’s wondered if these was any better

My 7 yr old son calls my wife on it, whilst lying around in our bed. It works perfectly even with his little voice.

Never had any complaints about this from people I have called. Usually they are surprised by how good it sounds and cannot believe it is free as well.

Again, never had this issue. Got my home late last year, when they were £75 in Argos, and since then picked up 3 more minis. No connection drops at all. Couple of times we have had a power outage and I was expecting to need to do something; but it was all up and running perfectly when the power came back on.

But then I have a very good router and stable wifi connection. Maybe that is your issue rather than the home itself?

We sold our Alexa's as they were terrible compared to the Home's. We had Alexa first and were reticent to change. The Argos £75 deal was what drove me to buy the Home and thank god we did. Alexa was driving us all insane. We still have 2 Alexa's due to them being integrated with Sonos One's. Hopefully the long planned GH move to Sonos will happen this year.

My wife also talks about smashing Alexa's face up due to how bad the voice recognition is.

Use "Hey Google" instead. Google Home listens for it, whilst your phone won't.

Is annoying though, if you have a Android tablet, phone and home in the same room and you say "OK Google" all of them will respond at the same time.
my phone responds to hey google as well.
Currys seem to have very little local competition (near me at least) which is just as well. I'm amazed their incompetence has allowed them to survive this long.
Just lost 10 minutes in store while they pondered how to apply the £10 discount, suggesting that I order online. I likely will order online, though certainly not from Currys. /Rant off

Yes they do. I use TPLink plugs and bulbs. As long as I’ve called everything a correct name and allocated them to rooms properly this part does seem to work well.

I've found Google to be very good at adapting, for instance if you ask to turn on the living room light or the lounge light it understands this is the same room despite it being called the lounge on my account.

I have mine connected to my (free version) Spotify account. If you say "Hey Google, play spotify playlist xxx" it will play a playlist "based" on the playlist you've selected (you'll have to tie your Spotify account to the Home via your phone - it's easy to do). As I work from home I have the PC on all the time, so I fire up the Windows app and start my actual playlist - although the "based" playlist is generally really good and finds some gems. One really good thing doing it this way is that the ads are really infrequent - instead of a couple every half an hour they're more like a handful per day.

I bought 2 yesterday and I had to tackle them over the additional tenner off as it didn't take it off automatically.
I have Siri, Alexa and Google Home. Google Home is very bad on many levels, not good for day to day users and programmers alike. But I would still recommend it, FREE calls to any phone in the world. Can’t beat that. *google may listen in and try to sell you haemorrhoid cream
Thanks. Just in time for our son's birthday on Saturday.
Have two currently, use them with nest, chrome cast and hue.... Wife uses them for the radio in the morning and checking weather. Have added ifttt app to set hue in a particular way. Mate has Alexa with hue and there are more options in terms of grouping lights. I use Google music though in the car and good for my play list. Might get a full one soon for better music quality. The four year old now comes home and says hey Google, play Shrek 3...wnd Netflix streams to chrome cast... Every... Damn... Day
