This would be useless for us with Scottish accents

Looks a bit like that naff echo thing

RRP didn't stop all the Amazon stuff hitting high heat. Might as well stick the full Pixel brands up in individual posts too.
This place is more an advert shop rather than deal shop.
Still serves a purpose.
Heat, just cos why not. :-)

It looks nothing like it.

Not worth 49 pounds, 49 dollars maybe. I think £35 is the sweet spot price for this

Not a special price, but Thank you for letting me know that it is out. Will give it a try as alexa bothers me sometimes a lot

I'll wait until Amazon price match...

Also available to preorder from Argos:

argos.co.uk/sea…ni/

I'll wait for Argos to have one of their £5 voucher £50 spend weekends

Google it

I did, that's why I thought they were largely the same. I've tried the echo round my GFs house, it's fairly naff and you need to pay for multiple additional subscriptions (prime, amazon music, spotify, audible) to get even basic functionality out of it. I suspect that future equivalents might be OK, but it's a platform to buy stuff from Amazon (it's always asking you if you want to order stuff) and it looks like the Google one is similar

The google home is a much better investment or the echo dot. I’ve got a few of both. Google home a pretty decent speaker too and echo dot has Bluetooth to link to speakers or sound bar (I use Spotify connect with it so no annoying bings of your phone). This isn’t either a good speaker or a hub to a good speaker. Yes you can use it to cast to other things but may as well just cast direct. See it as useful for asking questions (google by far the best for that) but think the home is a much better investment or the echo dot.

Not a deal at RRP cold!

Ended up with a Google Assistant (on Orange Pi Zero) and an Echo in the lounge - use the Echo for playing music, radio and setting reminders and alarms, and the Google device to control my lights via IFTTT and ask general questions. Good stuff, but clearly not for all!

shame it doesnt have a 3.5mm jack as i would like to connect to a better bluetooth speaker

No aux out, no Bluetooth out, I'm struggling to see how this is an 'Echo dot killer'

Damn really disappointed this has no bluetooth audio

edit: though it does have chromecast support, so better than nothing

They won't ever stock this sadly!

I bought one from maplin who give 10% off to NUS extra holders and £5 instore spend too if spending over £50. Its excellent. Sound quality is really good, the features are good and you cast your music to the device too. i'm very pleased with it.
