Pretty decent price here for the Mini from MyMemory - if you pick 2 it works out £25 each - would make for a good present with Christmas around the corner or even for your own usage.

If you fancy the charcoal colour then thats also the same price.

Description
Start living in the future with the voice-controlled Google Home Mini smart speaker. The virtual assistant is capable of all sorts, so you can set reminders so you don’t forget your anniversary, and then ask for recipe suggestions when you’re struggling for ideas for a romantic meal.

It’ll stream music from your favourite services too - just ask for a bit of northern soul and it’ll start playing. Plus, if you connect to your smart home devices, you can turn down the lights with a simple voice command.

Hope it helps someone.

Which would invariably be at a much higher price point - just how the whole electronics market rolls, no.

i don't know about 'much higher price point' we are talking minis here not iPhones
I bought the home mini from JL for 20 about a year ago and for the price it is excellent, I have just recieved a 2nd Gen Echo plus from Vod Broadband as a freebie, rrp over 100 pounds. Apart from the dimensions and inevitable speaker output the Echo does not justify that price whilst the home is def worth the price, to tell the truth I find the home easier to setup and configure, alexa was being a real pain at first and i still havent done much tinkering with it
any new users come up with any good life hacks using this? always interested for inventive ways people use theirs

my favourite is to say things like "hey google, remember that i put the insurance documents in the bottom drawer of the dresser" and so forth so it remembers stuff for you

Fair enough - whatever it is - doubtful it would be £25 or thereabouts, but at the end its a personal choice whether one waits for the newest toy or buys this. Cheers.
I have a Google one account and in the offers page there they offered one for free last week.

Missed that then!! Found it by accident!!
Does this one come with an EU plug? The chromecast I got from them last week is not a UK version.

Didn't actually know this!
Got one of these for free back when Spotify were giving them away for people with premium accounts. Used it downstairs for casual radio / music listening. It's no mega sound-system, but did a great job of filling the room with sound. Bought the larger one recently when it was on offer and moved this small one to the bedroom. It's great for use as an alarm, checking the weather forecast before getting out of bed, and also using as an intercom to broadcast to the downstairs device to ask the Mrs to make me a cuppa.

If you can't find your phone, you can ask the device to make it ring for you. Just ask "Where is my phone?", then it asks if you want to make it ring on full volume. This works even if your phone is set to silent.
