So, why exactly this is getting cold? And why other deals for the same price are so hot? I guess because those voting cold have no clue what they are voting for and they just follow the crowd. Voted hot!

Does it come with free access to Xiaomi CCTV cameras?

Normally yes, but Xiaomi cameras are currently blocked by Google until security issues are fixed to Google's satisfaction.
From what I can see, this doesn't offer any better sound than the Nest Mini. Does anyone with both agree with that? I don't think I'd use any other features at all, so it probably makes more sense for me to buy a couple more Minis, I think...

Buy it for the display, not the sound. The original “Home” gets you an audio step above the Mini, and is cheaper than the Hub, at the moment (though not cheaper @ Mr CH)

This is a hot deal, equivalent in all regards to the 900+ deal direct from Google.

Bought the nest mini and hub max and got one of these on the way from google. My TV has the google assistant on too so I am providing maximum spying capabilities into my dull life
I'm loving mine and it's great to cast Netflix and 4OD to which i watch on it while washing up, so you can pause and play with voice commands and not having to dry your hands!

I can't cast netflix in mine
Ps - just in case you’re not that familiar with Mr Central Heating, there’s this other little retailer also selling this for £59

They’re called google

Oh blow it you're right. I hadn't actually tried Netflix but had googled it and some was suggesting they could do it but they were talking about casting to their Chromecast.

You can cast iPlayer, itv, all4, now TV and a few others i think but not Netflix

You can ask it to "play The Witcher on Netflix" which works 🏻

As a tech person myself, I was quite sceptical about these home hubs, as I thought I didnt need to tell google or Alexa to turn my lights on. However since I was given a free alexa device with the ring doorbell, I've actually been quite pleased with how everything links to my hive heating and ring doorbell. My only issue is that I dont think alexa is as polished as google.
John.Reilly05/01/2020 23:06

You're right. It used to though. Weird.

From google help pages:

”Netflix playback is not supported on Google Nest Hub but Nest Hub can be used to initiate playback of Netflix on other supported devices just as a Google Home“
It's funny how this post went from - 50 to 500+ :/
Can you link this to a Nest hello video doorbell to see who's at the door when someone rings the bell?
Got one of the Minis for free as I have YouTube premium. This is a great little host device to go with it at this price.
Edited by: "Paul_Hayward" 6th Jan
It probably started to go cold because they have been this price on and off since mid December, across most retailers. So although it's a good price (and I bought two on previous deals), it almost the new RRP.

If it was a bit cheaper than the previous deals and/or came with some additional perk, i.e extended warranty, it would probably get much hotter.

Voted hot.
Nice little trick I found out today.

Stick a video file on your phone (MP4, Avi, Mkv), open it in Google Photos and you can cast to the Home Hub (or Chromecast).

Not sure when this feature became available but I'm sure it could not be done a year or so ago, when I needed Plex to do this.
Glad to see this one getting so much heat. For the first our after postage, was getting cold. Midnight voters, what can I say...

Thanks for the tip

It's a shame Netflix can't stream to these but so far that's the only bad thing I can say about this

As someone mentioned previously, having all your old backed up photos on Google photos just loop round randomly is joyous. You can't put a price on being reminded of lovely memories
Why would someone buy from this never heard before site when you can get for the same price from Google store?
can you have these as a full screen calendar display all the time? I was going to try and wall mount an ipad, but this would be better if it stays as a calender full screen.

Absolutely. Hence Google rebranding their 'Home' stuff as Nest!

While Netflix seemingly actively prevents casting, any App that allows it should work to the Hub screen.

I don't believe you can have a calendar display as the 'ambient' background (screensaver!).

Does seem odd. I just tested casting a few different services.

These work:
- Google Photos (own video files)
- Now TV
- BBC iPlayer
- All 4
- My Five
- ITV Hub

These don't:
- NetFlix
- Amazon Prime Video
My best purchase of last year. Especially for this feature.
