Google Nest Mini - Chalk

Nest Mini

Just like the original Mini, the Google Nest Mini is compact, discreet, and has the super-helpful Google Assistant built-in. This time round, the Nest Mini has bigger, richer sound with 2 x stronger bass and improved voice recognition. Asking for your 90s Ibiza playlist has never been easier.

It's got an eco-conscious side too, with a durable fabric top that's been made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.

Here to help

Want to know if you'll need an umbrella the next time you head out? Ask Google, and the Nest Mini will let you know if any rain is expected. You can also get the latest sports, finance, news updates, and more. Stay organised and ask Google to manage your schedule. Mark dates in your diary, set reminders, alarms, and more.

Never be stuck for an answer. Ask for things such as translations, calculations, unit conversions, and anything else you want to know the answer to. You can even play games with all your family.

Control your smart home

Use your voice to dim the lights, adjust your smart thermostat, lock your front door, play music from WiFi-connected speakers, and more. Just say "OK Google" followed by your command, and Nest Mini will take care of it.

Stream TV shows and movies

Forget flicking through apps and menus. Tell Google exactly want you to watch on your Chromecast TV (sold separately) and you'll be watching in moments.

And if you've got other Chromecast speakers, you can group and sync them to play the same songs around your home.

Personalised for you

Google Nest Mini supports multiple users. That means it can give you a personalised experience by differentiating your voice from other people in your home. Just say "OK Google" and enjoy your own unique benefits from Google Assistant.

Philips Hue White Bluetooth LED Bulb - B22

The Philips Hue White Bluetooth LED Bulb works straight out the box – simply fit your bulb and use the Philips Hue Bluetooth app for easy control.

Set the mood with a warm-to-cool white light. Choose a cool white for study time or a warm, soft white for movie nights.

Control your light without reaching for your phone. With an Amazon Alexa or Google Home device, you can use simple voice commands such as, 'Alexa, dim the lights' or 'Hey Google, turn on the table lamp', to control your lights.

Ready to expand your options? Unlock the full potential of your smart lighting any time with a Hue Bridge (sold separately). You'll be able to add more lights, control your lighting away from home, and set schedules.

________________________________________________________________
Please note:
- Google Home is optimised for selected music and audio services only. Subscriptions/payments may be required.
- Controlling your TV requires a Chromecast or Chromecast enabled TV.
- Controlling your thermostat requires a compatible smart thermostat, and controlling your lights requires compatible smart lights.
- Remember that even if you're using Multi-user and Google Home should recognise your voice, a voice similar to yours or a recording of your voice might cause it to incorrectly identify someone else as you.

Waitrose have been selling the Google Mini for £19.99, £20 extra for a single bulb isn't a great deal compared to that.

This is the nest mini though not the google gen 1. They're about 34 quid for the gen 2 nest
The bulb isn't the White Ambience, right?

Or were until very recently.
Currently the Nest (G2) mini is £49 on its own at Currys, and at John Lewis - who also have this identical deal.
There are other cheap bundle deals available, but the Nest Mini on its own is not currently at the Black Friday price.

I wonder if anyone could tell us more about these bulbs. Being Bluetooth, NOT WiFi, to use via Google (or Alexa), do they need to be close to the phone, or close to the Assistant? (So, can you operate them remotely or to a schedule when away?)
I noticed that B&Q and John Lewis seem to have these same bulbs on offer (twin pack for £25). Haven't posted it because I dunno whether they're any good, let alone worth that much!
Don't you need a hub for Hue bulbs/devices?

As far as the Mini is in the same room where the bulb is, then you can send the command remotely from anywhere through the Google Home app or from an additional mini in another room.

They are Bluetooth AND WiFi. All the benefits of a normal WiFi hue bulb. The Bluetooth addition allows control without the hue hub, but that's not as full a hue experience as with the hue hub.

Thank you for unravelling that mystery!

It's worth adding that Hue bulbs don't use WiFi, they use ZigBee to communicate with the hub, the hub then communicates with the internet giving you access to additional features (remote management etc). There are smart bulbs out there that use WiFi like LIFX, these bulbs don't require a hub.

Blame Phillips, but they do Zigbee-only AND these "Bluetooth" (no hub necessary) versions - BOTH branded "Hue".

Just to be clear though the new generation are ZigBee and Bluetooth, the older ones are ZigBee only :-)

Nope, Google Home natively supports Hue products, so no bridge needed - which personally sways me to this from Amazon Echo line. The less extras needed the better!

Ummm... Make that "Google Home natively supports SOME Hue products" (these 'Bluetooth' ones) but NOT the original Zigbee-only "Hue" products.
Google/Zigbee needs a hub.
And actually Alexa is the one that has a couple of products (only, for now) incorporating Zigbee - the Echo Plus and the big Echo Show.

Like I said upthread "Confused? You soon will be!"
Blame Phillips for this lack of clear distinction in their product branding.

Ahhh my mistake!
Upon looking into it though, they appear to be in the process of releasing all of the range with Bluetooth though, so that's fine enough for me, but yeah - might not be for everyone!
