Google Pixel 2 is currently £499 at Carphone Warehouse. However there is another offer if you trade in your phone you get an additional £50 off. The manager stated it can be any phone so if you have a cheap phone lying around you can utilise this offer.

Those Bezels
If I bring iPhone X will I get £50 off? sweet deal heat from me.
CPW are offering a few phones in their sale for 99p.
Anyone know whether you could buy one of these without the £10 top up and trade it in straight away for the Pixel £50 discount?
If Yes, then that would seem the easiest option to me

Those Bezels

I do love a nice pair of bezels...............
Just asked on chat if it can be any working phone and they said as long as its good condition.I've got a blackberry curve laying about so think I'll trade it in. But not sure which to get the pixel 2 or 2 xl. Thanks op
Thanks for the heads-up OP. So is this a special trade-in offer for the Pixel range?

E.g. If you want to buy another phone and have a trade-in they use the following to calculate a price?

carphonewarehouse.com/mob…tml

Don't worry...I'll be buying a Pixel..just want to check whether it's a special Pixel offer.
Does anyone know if the additional £50 will count if I trade in a 'good' phone (If I trade in my Pixel XL for £220, as it says on the website, would I get £270 credit for the new phone?). Anyway, heat from me...
tempted
They take trade in phones anyway. My Nexus 5x is worth £80 and iPhone 6 £120.

But the whole point of this (if it actually works in-store) is that Carphone Warehouse will offer you £50 for a crappy phone (6+ years old etc.) instead of £2 (e.g. my old HTC Wildfire).

That way you can eBay/Gumtree your 'still decent' old phone (like your 5X) for its true value instead of being offered a fraction of its value.

I doubt that'll work.

It's 1 x trade-in price per handset. You'd only get £220.

If it's going for more on eBay then you should look to sell it there when the £1 offer is back on.

If this deal is confirmed to be true then if I were you I'd find a really old phone that works (value should be less than £50...check eBay for going rate) and trade it in for £50. If you don't have an old working phone, then buy one for as cheap as possible and trade it in for £50.

Then you'll be quids in after selling your Pixel on eBay.

Snap. My thoughts exactly.

Seems to good to be true. It appears to be an in-store deal only so best call your local store and enquire if they will give you £50 trade-in value for ANY phone.

Edit:

I've called 4 stores and no one wants to pick up the phone!!

Only phones not bricks sorry
Good price but for low users like me, maybe the mobiles.co.uk one is still better - £530ish minus £35ish tcb, includes 2 years of sim with 1Gb data.

Would be nice to pick up in store, but on other hand, more rights of return with distance buying.
So any phone e.g. S3 mini, can qualify for £50 off?

If it's the original, I'd keep it, nice bit of history you got there. Who knows, maybe in a few years that'll be an antique.
Worst phone design of the year 2017 award winner , no other manufacturers design worst phone than this, ugly nasty and try to got your money by using Google as a name
Do you still get a Google home mini free with these?
Any deals on the Pixel 2 XL?

Those Bezels

Yeah in 2018. I like Google devices and I understand how good they are. But those bezels completely put me off. If the XL hits this price range, maybe will bite. Have a Nexus5 to trade in however, still going strong. Stick with my OP5 until. Heat, though.

You might be able to get a free EE SIM and use it to buy this phone for £0.79:

But I'm not sure if your EE SIM has to be active for a set period of time.

Wow! It would be very easy to get carried away with this deal. I'd like to know their 14 day return policy if bought in store.

Effectively smartphone of 2017 (good argument) for £360 plus VAT, incl. 2 year warranty, 2 year unlimited photo storage (high resolution) 2 year software updates.

Verses iPhone X, a grand plus a few hundred for apple care+, and gauranteed slow downs month 12+ >

Buy it online to keep your 14 days no hassle return privilege intact.

Their own policy states

SIM free phones bought in store
  • You can swap your SIM free phone for a different handset within 14 days of buying it.
  • You can only swap your phone for a different model once.
  • You can't return your phone and get a refund.

Now I don't know if there have been success stories of people getting refunds anyways but I don't think it's worth the risk. Only buy the phone if you plan to keep it.

So those that want to take advantage of this offer but aren't sure whether they want to keep the handset...the advice is to go in-store and test the handset for yourself before committing. It's a great offer.

You can go online and use a Pixel emulator to test the software. You can also use YouTube to see the design details but if you're still on the fence go in-store and physically put the device in your hand and use it.

Yes go in store and test it fully or if you don't have a handset to swap, just order it online since it's £499. I don't think an emulator will tell you how the phone is going to act on your network where you live, how battery life is going to be etc
Trade in is a con. U get nothing for an old phone. Newer ones can be sold for a better price.

Yes, bet the battery life on an old 6310 will still blitz any current phone.
Tried this morning. The store said they ended the £50 trade in before dropping the Pixel 2 price to £499.

Fair play.
Tried 2 stores they know nothing of this offer. Phoned customer services who said they haven't seen that offer on the system for a while. What store was the manager so friendly to mention this offer?

But those bezels completely put me off.

Genuine question, why do so many people think bezels are an issue?
