    Two things

    1. Still getting security updates
    2. Still getting supported in general

    The HTC is not.

I'd still have this. As much as I love my HTC smartphones, there is no point buying one anymore.

Loved my Pixel 2. Jumped from that to the S10e.

Have the urge to jump again but everything's too big nowadays!

I got an excellent one on ebay for £85, it was fantastic apart from battery, it would barely last half a day, had to send it back, think you really need to consider battery life on these refurbs, its put me off buying them.

This model is supported by Google until October 2020 so 6 months of official updates left
(such a shame phones don't get supported as long like some Chromebooks - why o why can't they be forced to provide 5 years of SW updates for devices? And say at least 3-4 years parts availability like batteries and screens)

As others have said, this is a great phone, but battery life is pretty shocking.

Pure vanilla android is so much better to use than almost any other UI from the other manufacturers.
  12. EdCov's avatar
Great phone but when you look at the battery replacement you wonder if they deliberately made it difficult.

Completely unacceptable in my view. Lots of these will end up binned when with a replacement batteries they could be kept going for years.

If anyone is feeling adventurous, some smart modder ported the Pixel 3 camera app to older Pixels, so users can use new camera features like super res zoom, HDR+ (HDR+ employs image stacking to control exposure, and also to preserve details, reduce noise, increase sharpness, etc. It is an all-in-one package.), astrophotography, default settings and 4k timelapse

    Download at XDA.

I like my Pixel 2 a lot but I've found the camera difficult to use compared to every other phone I've had, which is odd because everyone says it's so good.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I can't take close up photos if it's dark enough to require flash because it's so bright that the photo is just yellow/white. This bas never happened with any other phone I've had and is annoying as most of the time I'm not taking nice photos for IG, just trying to take a quick photo of something in my house. :l

night mode photos are cool though

"Good condition" from Music Magpie is well below what CEX grade as 'C'.

I ordered two "Good condition" phones from Music Magpie recently - The first had deep scratches all over the screen as well as chunks missing from the case - I didn't even bother charging it, just returned it immediately, The second looked better but after fully charging it found the battery was faulty; it would get to 45% and then crash and show 0% charge - again returned.

As for refunds, the first was bought from their site and took a couple of weeks to get a refund. The second was bought through eBay and I had to get them to intervene after they failed to refund.

And as for their customer service - pathetic. No phone number and if you email them a question then all you get back is a scripted answer which doesn't answer the question. (edited)

I might have got lucky then, I purchased a Grade B unlocked 64gb Pixel 2 the other week off eBay for £110 which is getting me 2.5hrs or so screen time with a little bit of battery left over (despite an app telling me my battery on has 65% of it's original capacity).

But either way, this listing is a heck of a lot of phone for £90!

The battery life is certainly better than my old Pixel 1, used or otherwise!

Brilliant phone but agree about the battery. It would be on 20% then die about 15 minutes later. I had to buy a £100 Xiaomi halfway through my contract.

Removable batteries and software updates >2yrs avoid needless waste and will keep Greta from blowing a fuse.

Hoping that this a sea change is just around the corner on this, especially with the not so recent news stories on security OS updates.

It's called Gcam mod and it has been ported to other non Pixel phones by many other devs with various degrees of success. It gives you the current best computational photography that I know of on Android. Pixel phones have average camera sensors, the software is doing the magic. Android is severely lacking in 3rd party computational photography support, Apple has numerous excellent 3rd party apps which can give excellent results.

The rumour is the Pixel 5 is going to be more midrange when it's released. To be fair the Pixel 4 is not a flagship phone in terms of overall hardware, so maybe Google are admitting finally that they are going back to midrange and the software enhancements/features and experience are the reason to buy a Pixel.

This phone is great. But it would not trust the battery on a device that is almost 30 months old.

I picked up one for my kid and it would not last half a day. Ended up getting it swapped under warranty and that would not make a full day. So we have s battery pack off eBay which trebles the weight and width
  36. jacko584's avatar
Same price on their website if you want to avoid using ebay. Also 5% quidco if buying direct.
The fact that their "pristine" used ones are around double the cost of the "good" ones makes me think that good condition might not be very good
  37. realdeals's avatar
For those thinking of replacing the battery you best watch this first and then you will understand why these are going so cheap.

Removing the screen means game over for me and costly if you take it to an independent. (edited)
