Is the 845 that much faster?
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro camera is nearly as good according to reviews and costs a little less (£499 SIM only)

good deal, XL version for under 600, what's not to like?!
No bloatware. Pure android. First to get updates. Lots of negative people out there!
Awesome phone, don't listen to the haters! I love my phone's and usually pick up the latest and greatest as soon as it's out but not felt the urge to get anything else over this yet!

Nissan GT-R is faster than a Bentley, does that make the Nissan better than a Bentley then?

Kirin 970 isn't faster than the 835. I have a P20 Pro with a Kirin 970 and I'd swap it for a Pixel 2 XL. The Pixel is much smoother and faster than this phone.

It definitely isn't nearly as good. Unless the Mate 10 Pro is better than my P20 Pro.

Has they changed the LG screen that’s faulty?

Has they changed the LG screen that’s faulty?

There isn't an outward fault to fix as such, although LG P-Oled displays seem quite prone to faults - I have two friends whose V30s developed a fault a few months after purchase and one whose V30 had a line down the screen from day one. The Pixel 2XL P-OLED is also apparently just as susceptible to faults, as well as having a blue cast when viewed from an angle and a slightly 'grainy' look under certain conditions.

There's no 'fix' for screens breaking down and the blue tint is just part of the makeup of this particular display assembly. So no, I didn't believe they have made any changes to their screens. My opinion is that LG are a few generations behind Samsung in terms of screen quality.

Best price anywhere for this bloat free awesome camera phone, can't believe it's been voted cold just because there are other phones out there. Is that why we're here now? To cold vote something just because there's some competition? Blah!

Voted hot

Even the first gen Pixel is still a fantastic phone.

Pixel is a great choice if you want to stay out of the race for specs that other manufacturers draw you into. With a OnePlus you get your device superceded every 6 months. With Huawei you get all the bloat and erratic updates and seemingly dozens of new devices every year. With Samsung you spend just as much and get better specs but far slower updates and more bloat and slowdown. Can't knock the other manufacturers for doing their own things but if you like Android and just want iPhone style updates and after-sales satisfaction then I still think you can't go wrong with Pixel - even if I no longer own one myself.

I don't know myself I only buy budget phones (can't justify the silly money these days for phones) but I red a review yesterday in a magazine

Personally speaking I'd say don't believe everything you read. Huawei seem to have something of a hold on reviewers but my time with the device tells me that the drooling reviews from the people at the Paris event don't live up to the reality. On the other hand reviewers like MKBHD continue to rate the Pixel 2, with no ulterior incentive to do so.

Having been a Samsung owner and now a Pixel and OnePlus owner , I'd take the Pixel 2 any day of the week.

I guess it's possible to rate two phones highly for different reasons. I'm not entirely convinced that all reviewers are objective, because it's human nature not to want to risk your relationship with a company that gives you handsets and flies you around the world by slagging off their latest handset. It's also not always easy to get a real feel for a device and its limitations until you've had it for a few weeks.

The Pixel is legitimately a great phone for snaps and you don't get many owners of the device complaining about its photography prowess in forums. Look at the P20 Pro forums on XDA though and there are a slew of people (who bought it with their own money) complaining about the camera quality. I trust the judgment of real owners over almost all of these review sites and I never really gave much thought to the Pixel 2's camera until someone I know bought one and started showing me pictures from it.

Yes I agree you cannot beat real world use of anything compared to reviews that is for sure but if you don't know someone with one you have to take notice of some reviews you trust but of course there are a lot of fake reviews around as Amazon has found out

I've owned and used the P20 Pro for a few weeks now and I've picked up on a few things that not a *single* reviewer mentioned - so fixated were they on the camera. The main thing for me is that out of the box, Google Photos will not upload in the background. This is a Huawei modification that is related to their power management settings. You have to go into Settings, Battery and App Launch and turn off all power management settings for Google Photos, or else your content will only upload when you open the app and leave it open. Imagine you're a normob who sets up your Google services and then leaves them alone under the expectation they will just work (as they do on other devices). You rarely open Google Photos because Huawei has its own Gallery app front and centre. Then your phone gets stolen six months later. All your photos are gone. Not backed up.

This might seem extreme but I honestly think it shows just how immature Huawei are as a software company, and going back to the point - this is why I would now rather have a Pixel phone. I can trust the software, there are no stupid little bugs and quirks - it just works. It's smooth, fast, and has a great camera that doesn't require manual ISO and exposure settings to make the most of it.

You should be doing your own reviews that is what people need to hear.... proper real word experience

That is exactly like me.... Had a Nissan 200sx for years rebuilt etc and would love a Nissan GTR. Saw one in the petrol station a day or so back..... Nice

Ok
Why has this been voted cold so many times and yet a Huawei Mate 10 pro got voted hot? Not sure about this site any more.

If they made a Nissan GTR convertible, would take that any day over a Bentley convertible.
