What do people think about the Pixel 2 XL Vs the LG V30? My contract ends in two weeks and i'm weighing up what to get next

The code is not showing on TCB or quidco. They might not payout.

Following this one closely. I'm loving the v30 too because the pixel 2 XL feels quite dull on the hand

I almost ordered the V30 but what changed my mind was this; this time next year, when android P is out and probably on version 9.1, will the V30 even have Oreo 8.1?
Then then year after...LG and all other manufacturers pretty much put last year's device to the bottom of the pile for updates. So it depends on what you value; the hardware for the V30 is superb minus the front camera but software-wise it will never match a Pixel.
Great deal. Heat added

Fully agreed with all you have said. That's why I'm using the old pixel XL now BUT....Having the latest OS has its issues too. Many apps have issues or crashes especially the first few weeks or months... It's a chicken and egg thing...

That's true but luckily so far I've not used apps with issues.
At the end of the day you benefit more from having an up to date OS and it helps to keep the phone feeling fresh.
Ironically when I retire my old phones I unlock their bootloaders and install custom ROMs; makes them so much more fun to use! I don't even activate the root because it's unnecessary for what I need.
Great deal! This is what I wanted all along. A bit gutted now I'm signed up with Vodafone with half the data allowance, I would of much preferred EE.

If i play with my phone with out inserted their supplied SIM (i.e. I use another sim card) and then factory reset. can i send it back still if i dont like it. Will they know if it was used?

their site states the following:

What happens if I've used my phone? We will only be able to offer a refund if the goods being returned are unused and in their original packaging. Inserting your SIM card into the handset will signify acceptance of your contract and you will therefore not be entitled to return your handset or cancel your contract. All equipment including manuals, free gifts and accessories must be returned undamaged and in the same condition they were first supplied.

Distance selling guidelines will still apply so yes! Obviously take care not to scuff the device etc.
Considering this as an upgrade to my 6p. Are mobiles.co.uk ok to get hold of for queries and support? Also I heard about lots of issues with the 2xl, something about the screen maybe?

I just upgraded to this from a Galaxy S8+ (had an iPhone X before and a Nexus 6P) - the first unit I received had a dead pixel and severe blue shift in the screen but Google sent a replacement phone which I received the next day. It's a night and day difference to be honest, the replacement has a slightly warmer tone with significantly less blue shift than the original - even the iPhone X exhibited some colour shifting when viewed off angle (the Pixel displays it more but it's not a deal breaker imo) and the Galaxy screen was very saturated with no noticeable colour shift. The screen on the Nexus 6P leans a lot more towards the greens and blues compared to my replacement but it displays less blue shift too.

The phone itself is great and the camera really is top notch, you've just got to decide if it's worth risking the chance of a problematic screen (which you'd need to RMA/return to get a better unit) vs going for something else like the smaller Pixel 2 or another phone (the Galaxy is very good too, especially on Android Oreo beta). I have no regrets in upgrading to this phone though - it's so smooth and the screen issue is overblown (it's their QC that's the problem). Hope that helps!

Taken. 2 XL 15 gig fir 37.99
Just ordered. Fed up with iPhone and want to try android again. Seems like a reasonable spec phone, the main thing for me is continued updates.

its doing a credit check and taken my money, so hopefully it doesn’t take long, as I will get one before Xmas

Yes. It didn't come with it, I rang up and queried it and they said I am entitled to one and they sent one out next day delivery via dpd again.

I looked online because the processed email confused me and saw people complaining which worried me. Turns out I got it next day even though I ordered late. Come with a home mini which was an actual surprise!
What are EE like? I've been with O2 for about 14 years or so, but deals like this are making me consider leaving them. I'll be getting a Pixel 2 XL at some point either way. This deal has ended but CPW have it for £37 with 15 gig on EE.

EE was really good for me. Excellent coverage however my colleague struggled to get any signal at his home in West London.
