Been looking for one of these for a while now..... £669 seems a fantastic deal for such a highly rated phone.

Also £669 for the black colour.

Additionally used work vouchers for 8% off online bringing it to £620ish.

Possible quidco / TCB also.

Cold because people on here are strange!

This phone has the best camera of any smartphone and dual front facing speakers and great battery life and the latest Android plus updates.

Yes it has a blue tint but who the hell looks at their phone on an angle?!?!

But that's just your budget. An Audi A4 and a Kia Optima are comparable but one costs a lot more than the other. People with a bigger budget will most likely favour the Audi. Just because something is still expensive even after having a price drop doesn't make it any less of a deal.

I have the 2 XL and the colour shift is nothing, although I think there's rumor the newer builds don't have it as much. Either way it's not an issue on my device. I think the phone is great, my only complain is for a colour setting between Boosted and Saturated. Saturated is too much and Boosted is not enough.

I've had it since day 1. The colour shift isn't noticeable at all on mine. I don't remember ever using any phone and looking at it at a 45 degree angle while using it.

This guy has two XL's manufactured a few months apart, seems they've improved something or he got lucky.
Excellent phones these, didn't notice any weird screen issues while I was playing with a friends, except a bit of blur at 0% brightness. I'd be looking to upgrade to one but they're far too big. Pity the normal size one doesn't have the same looks.
This should be the price for 128gb. Still overpriced I'm afraid because of that woeful screen.

Woeful is quite harsh. It's not amazing but far from woeful. Some of the software updates have improved things. It also can be approved further with some OTA updates

You can't get this phone any cheaper than this so heat from me.

I agree that they are not identical, one is all black, the other black and white.

Closer to 500 before I’m going for it
Just not quite as gooder screen as the Samsung's.
Bought this just before Christmas and it's probably the best phone I've ever owned. At the end of two day's use without charging, it still had 27% battery left last night. The camera is amazing, I find I use the squeezy sides all the time, stock Android is a joy to use and the design and feel is as premium as it gets. The always-listening music identification feature is awesome. It's even worked while in my jeans pocket! Oh, and the power button is orange. Whatever people say about iPhones, they don't have orange power buttons, so this wins. There's blue shift, sure, that I noticed for about the first day or two, but after that I don't notice it at all. Buy it, you'll love it.
So glad I picked up the S8+ for £400 via the crazy 20% off ebay deal. Amazing phone.

Apart from the camera, notch and software. Seriously the iPhone is a great phone but I am so done with them. They bring nothing new to the table every year now. I hated Android for years but after using two Nexus phones and now a Pixel I really can't see me going back to iOS.

Nothing to do with budget I just choose not to waste £600 on a mobile that in 2018 still might only give me a days battery charge. now if the battery lasted a week it might be a good deal.

Charging is so 2017
Title misleading.. actually thought it was a panda phone

Voted hot anyway as it has the letters X & L & the number 2 after a word starting with S

Yes I have a few but being a mobile phone I was hoping to get out now & again.
Keep in mind the Panda has a terrible smooth plastic coating which feels like HTC One XL cheap.
NOBODY buy phone just for camera quality, if anybody concern about camera quality at 1st place they buy micro third or APS-C mirror less camera, when you see awesome result from these digicams you never buy and use mobile for taking pictures

I disagree - I have a mirrorless APS-C camera (and a bigger full frame Canon that I haven't used in over 2 years) and still I increasingly find myself turning to my phone camera as I always have it on me and since the camera and post processing has improved tremendously on phone. I mean Google HDR+ is simply incredible and the enhancements that Google Photos does automatically would take me ages to do in Lightroom. So yes, phone camera hardware will always be inferior but a combination of accessibility and superior software makes it a compelling proposition for me to shell out a bit more money for a better phone camera.

But this phone has a better battery than most? Granted it doesn't last a week (what smartphone does), but only a few comments above yours, someone said they got 2 days with some left.

Coming from the Nexus 6P which is aluminium I actually prefer the feel of the Pixel 2 XL. It doesn't feel like plastic but doesn't feel like metal either.

There's loads wrong with the screen at this price point. I'll list them for you. sRGB is not calibrated properly as the reds are to weak, this is my biggest gripe. Screen has black smearing at low brightness and very noticeable black crush. Then there's the blue tint may be improved now but should never have been there in the first place. Then you have the graininess at low brightness.
Trust me I would have got this phone in a heart beat if it wasn't for the screen. The fact that they haven't fixed the sRGB mode, but instead palmed us of with a wildly saturated mode has really peed me off that they can fix a simple calibration problem.

Then you have reports of slow charging on the 2XL.
Edited by: "Deal_HUNT3R" 4th Jan
I don't really see any of the issues your mentioning apart from the colour calibration. They went for a more natural colour profile but most people are not used to seeing this on phones. I use the 'Saturated' profile which is as it suggests. Personally I would like an option between Boosted and Saturated. This isn't enough for me to call the screen bad though, I am very happy. Maybe it depends on what your previous phone was, mine was the 6P which has a lower resolution and is obviously smaller so all of the 2 XL is an upgrade.

The charging apparently slows when it nears capacity, this I think was to prolong the life of the battery. Again coming from the 6P the battery life is amazing in comparison.
