I've got the Pixel 2. Tis a very good phone.

Don't believe the Apple fanboys... Stock Android is now just as good.

I had an iPhone 4s. It lasted me for 6.5 years. So I'm not going to dispute the handset's build quality. Or it's operating system.

But the Pixel 2... As someone who was weary of switching... Is just as good as what Apple have up their sleeve.
Stock Android UI prettier than iPhone interface, Jobs would turn in his grave...

Apart from that, Pixels are iPhones of Android, mimicking also mistakes (underspeccing, over-reliance on software prowess/gimmicks etc)

I love Pixels, but this is a grade C... can't vote hot OP on this occasion

Dude... Give credit where credit is due...

Android OS is pretty phenomenal now.
If you don't need iOS then yes phones like thePixel 2 are fantastic and excellent value - currently have pixel 2 (great size and quick), iPhone 7+ and Mate 20 pro.

Googles update cycle and os upgrade support is great and the best bit compared to iOS is that all the default apps (calendar etc.) are separate from the OS and so get regular update. Whilst on iOS you only see major updates with annual iOS updates. In then past Android apps used to have to much access to on phone data but now you have the granular control to restrict permissions.

iOS is starting to feel clunky and old and needs a refreshed, Android in various forms is starting to become more innovative and modern.

Saying that my everyday phone is the iphone as its seamless with the iPad a and my heart trusts it more from a security perspective. My Android phones are there to get around the restrictive nature of the Apple system and excel in other areas..

Android has the better assistant - Siri is very poor.

When i was wanted a phone for my young son instead of buying a new budget phone i bought him a perused pixel 2 and he loves it as it has AR support, is quick and takes great photos - only downside of perused was that the battery life isn’t brilliant

I actually think stock android 10 is better than iOS 13, but having come from a essential ph-1 and pixel 3 to iPhone 11 the whole experience of living with an iPhone is just better.

Everywhere and except software updates and camera

You haven't been keeping up with the news the Pixel has been full of bugs and hardware issues, with owners going ballistic about how long it was taking Google to fix these issues.
The Pixel 3 is now down to 9 month left on OS and 21 on security, so if you want longer support get a 2019 device. Especially now with oems offering longer support than Google, the news in the tech community is that the 2016 Mate 9 will get Android 10.

Software is not about how it looks its about how it consistently runs and Pixel 3's software has been rank. Slow downs, lag, random reboots have all been report throughout it's life, Even MKBHD had something negative to say on the matter.
Oems have gone way past Pixel OS with Google only now adding oem features, monitoring software and a splash of paint each year.

The camera? Apart from high contrast daylight stills in certain scenarios and when you can actually hold the device still long enough for long exposure night shots, the rest isn't very good.
No 4k 60 fps and other basic 2018 nevermind 2019 specs and festures being prime examples.
It's all hype and a free camera app to brainwash people into their colour science, 2 years in a row the Pixels have bombed in the big blind held by MKBHD.
8 million voters took part in last years polls I believe, so the results can not be disputed.

I will take my chances elsewhere with devices that are better.

My Mrs has a Pixel 3, we had issue with bottom speaker but Google have promptly replaced it.

Software support, you gotta compare to something of a same price, a 2019 Chinese flagship may get an update with a heavy skin and them with Gcam on their 48 megapixel camera can't best this camera.

4k 60 FPS has no stabilisation on any phone so you need a gimble to use that mode. Most people click photos that look bright hence why phones like the Pocofone win, good natural looking photos like iPhone and Pixels come lower down.
Heavy skin, why do people use this expression there is nothing heavy about changing the look of a GUI.
Updates are updates pal and that's what you said, Oems offer longer support than Google. FACT

Who told you 4K 60 has no stabilisation on any phone, you best go look at that one up.

The actual winner for that last 2 years where the Mate 20 pro and the Note 10+ both have far better all-round capabilities than the Pixel and so does most 2019 top end phones.
If the Poco can get more votes than the Pixel in basic picture taking scenario, that does not say much for the Pixel.
PC World's last cam standing series on YouTube is conducted by a professional photographer, the Pixels were featured the most and lost against the big boys.

Enough of fantasy-peddling, get a Pixel (any gen), take some pics, feel the smoothness, flawless operation. No other brand provides 3 OS updates in Android world, plus monthly security. If you buy a Pixel 3 line phone now, you'll be supported for almost 2 years.

Like @kobirulali pointed out, warranty is exceptional, only comparable to Apple, Samsung coming 3rd. I bought a used Pixel on eBay with a faulty battery and they replaced it, not many questions asked. Top-drawer CS.

As for voting, we know many vote with their feet, especially those who don't know much about picture-taking. I suggest that you watch other YT channels and don't idolise any influencer, a good read of expert reviews in good publications would do you a lot of good.

Mate 9 getting Android 10? you can't be serious...look at support for Honor 10, a 2018 flagship from same company...

You're welcome. Problem is, if nobody replies his/her fiction prevails over the facts, and misinformation is spread on forum (some rogue states have dedicated government agencies working to that effect)

I don't like to confront anyone, dirty job that can spiral into a nasty argument if other party doesn't show restraint, but life is not always pleasant

True, I owe it to HotUKDeals after it all it's saved me so much money and got me to buy (several) pixel phones. So far between myself and recommendations for someone else I purchased 5 of them! I'll reply back to him tomorrow.

Steady on dude don't coming running in stamping your feet because Google put second rate gear in your phone.
i posted a video in the Pixel. 4 thread, you can go there and watch the Pixel get beat up by the iPhone and the Note 10+ and listen to a prefessionals appraisal.
I fact you can watch it here, the Pixel. Is a one trick pony, video is mediocre especially on your device, low bit rate sound and over processed photos.

How about if we let a professional take the pictures and talk Instead of us and youtube novices?
This guy provides histograms too, not just bla bla bla.
1st gen, not too good

2nd gen not much better.

Pixel 4 the best Nah.

The reality not owner bias and not novice opinion. This is without video capabilities and 2nd or 3rd lenses, the Pixel hype is just pure YouTube hype and a free apk brainwashing.

2 MKBHD blind test later and people are still. Making excuses because they can t tell which is the Pixel so they can vote for it
8 million vote in the 2nd and the Pixel bombed.

On the support thing only time will tell on the Mate 9 but that is the word out there.

So basically nearly every Huawei/Honor is 'officially confirmed' for Android 10, but IN PRACTICE, my Mate 20 pro doesn't have it, nor my P20...

(Note: it's also OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED that CORONAVIRUS is under control in China )

However, I agree that both iPhone 11 pro & Note 10+ are tough cookies to beat, I wouldn't be surprised if many pick them over Pixel 3/4. Video recording has been always a specialty of both iPhone & S/Note series

Honestly and with all respect, get a 2nd hand Pixel 1/2, they're dirt cheap so you'll be able to understand the Pixel 'hype' - such a thing is not Pixel-exclusive, there's also been an iPhone camera hype, a Huawei flagship camera hype, etc

Maybe, using them without sim atm, P20 received December security last time I turned it on, no traces of A10 yet - my Nokia 9 has had it for months already

I know M20P, P20 WILL get it at some point, not so Honor 10, a 2018 flagship, according to my sources; that's point I was trying to make, software support not as good as for Pixel line throughout Android world

(Happy so far with support for my Huaweis, we don't know what future holds)

My P30 Pro. Is on Android 10.
My Mate 20 Pro is on Android 10
My Device has seen. 154. 180 and. 188 is out for dload.
The Updates are out there it's the issues with the US that has delayed delivery. ( also carrier influence) Huawei are way behind where they would usually be, take a look at when Emui 10 was first unveiled.
If you want Android 10 today pop a Voda sim in and watch it arrive, better still use the software suite.

As for picking the iPhone or Note 10 over the Pixel, people did In MMBHD's 2019 blind test the final was Samsung v Samsung
The thing about the videos you referred to on YouTube is that they tell you which phone took which picture, they tell you what to look at and the photos selected match their own bias.

The camera APK was handed to devs ready to go, the latest can now be Installed on any device. This is a blatant attempt to brainwash people into their colour science and processing in an attempt to sell more devices, but it isn't working. The bulk of purchasers will never Install it, only the techies and as you know they are sold on it. But even they won't buy a Pixel at the price.

In the big blind test people were not told which phone is which, they were also not told what to look at. So they had to make their own minds up as to which picture looked best to them and what a difference that made. With 8 million participants there is no debating the results, but the Yanks once again try to because their homegrown phones must be the best.
There always seems to be a focus on what a Pixel do and zero on what I can't, there are alot of things the Pixel can't do that the others can and that's why they are better.
