'Failed phone' lol. Not sure why people are so hurt by phones that don't meet their specs - just don't buy

May I ask how it "failed" because to me it was one phone of 2016 that was rather popular

It's about to be superceded by the "Pixel 2" in a couple of month's time.
(But rumour has it Google have followed Apple, by removing the headphone socket).

Considered by many to be the best android phone in 2016. It would have been a huge seller at this price. However, I do accept that there are now a handful of better Android's out there and so £400 is only a fair price rather than a bargain.
Found it on eBay (refurbished obviously) for £315 in 'good' condition for 32GB. 13 month warranty. IMEI checked via Checkmend as well so it won't be blacklisted. Find it here.

Was hoping these would have been the release prices :-/ was so gutted when I realised I was too poor to own one.

It still amazes me how people can judge a product "failed" without using it..
I have had a 32GB Pixel since Dec 2016 (purchased at £599 direct from Google) and have had the best mobile experience (bar none) to date and I came off an iPhone 7.
Before the Pixel I barely lasted a month with a handset but I have had no reason to change it!
The camera is still the best out there (maybe HTC U11 pips it).. OS is still smooth as butter.. not carried out a single factory reset since I have owned it!
No lagging or crashes at all and always up to date with the latest security patches and android versions.
For the experience I have had it was definitely worth the £599 I paid so the current price is a good price in my humble opinion.
Looking forward to the follow up..

er, you can still be blacklisted I think. checkmed will only check the current state, but won't protect you being blacklisted upto 2 years later if its a contract phone. the orginal owner can just report it stolen or failing to pay contract which the network provider can black listed it.

DO you remember Googles first phone the G1? That didnt have a headphone jack. People seem to forget about this

But...I WILL be getting a Pixel 2
I moved from a Pixel to a Galaxy S7 and feel the Pixel was actually the better phone. Silky smooth interface, it had that iOS feel to it - everything just works seamlessly and instantly. The background changing pattern/ colour according to the outside weather was a lovely touch. Camera was incredible. The only downside was the non-expandable storage, but the unlimited full quality Google Photo storage that comes with the phone definitely helps - especially if shooting 4K video.

I can only imagine they've reduced the price because of the upcoming Pixel 2. Rumours have it this will be the best phone of the year, even with the removed headphone jack.
All my past phones were Google nexus, then they bring Pixel ! More than 100% price hike over the 5x. I'm sure it's a great phone but I wouldn't buy one at £399.99.

I would however buy the pixel XL for £399.99 ! Until then. No thanks.

Heat for finding the best deal for a pixel & from a UK company.

That's like saying the best smartphones are the Apple iPhone 7 or Samsung S8, it's a load of bullocks.

The best smartphones are (some of the better) Chinaphones. Only a sheep would pay for something like this.

Get it from CEX. their grade A is essentially brand new.
you could register for google warranty yourself.
there might be possibility to get blacklisted
but cex is good at dealing with that.
you will be in safe hand.
By far the best phone I have ever owned (32gb Pixel XL since launch FYI) - and I've been through a lot of phones!

Best Android software experience out there and the instant updates are great, no more waiting on third party manufacturers *cough*Samsung*cough* to pull the finger out.

I love the hardware too. I know it didn't get a great reception in that regard but I just like the minimal sleek look and I don't mind the 'chin' at all, quite frankly it gives me a spot to hold on to it! And don't get me started on the flat vs curved display...

For the first time ever I don't feel like I'm "waiting for the next big thing". It's quite probable I will end up buying the Pixel 2 but right now I have no urge to upgrade and that's after almost a year's use, never happened before.

I was opposite.
I sold my S7edge for a Pixel XL with £100 extra payment.
Totally worth it.
Way better user experience.
Is screen size the only difference between Pixel and Pixel XL?

Unfortunately I second @Tweedie 's comments about eBay mobile purchases. I got caught out in this way when sold (unknowingly) a contract phone that the seller then stopped paying for. The mobile network then blocked the phone permanently for all networks. I was right royally up the creek without a paddle - but eBay did refund me eventually.
Just a word to the wise n all ....
Holding out for the pixel 2 but this is a good price , dreading how much the new one will be

My issue with CEX is two things. 1, you don't know really how old they are (battery life). 2, the price for what's an unknown. Thanks all the same.
Holding out for the revival of the cheaper nexus line

I believe so, 5" & 5.5".

I think screen resolution maybe different also? FHD Pixel, QHD Pixel XL?
Would love a Pixel 2, but my 6p has worked without issues for the last couple of years and I can't justify spending the amount I paid for my 6p on launch day ever again!
Still rocking a nexus 5, i was hyped for the pixel until I saw the price at launch, that just proper deflated my Chubb.
Sill voted hot as I hope this is a deal for someone
Get a second hand S5 and stick a good time on it

Bloody well should be best phone of the year considering it'll be released towards the end and be pushing £700.

When it was released it had the best camera tested on any smartphone, and now it's got the 2nd best camera according to DXOMark. I agree prices of mobile phones are a bit insane, but still a very good phone, although the design of the phone is horrible with those massive bezels and lack of a premium feel/design.

How is it better than the iphone 7?, is it water resistant, does it have a memory card slot to improve it over the iphone, will it always get updates like the iphone. I was offered a trade for my iphone and said no, I just could not see how it is any better than the iphone, if it had been water resistant and memory slot then it would
Such an amazing phone, using the pixel XL at the moment. it's worth checking the smartfonestore as I managed to pick up the 128gb XL for 398

The iPhone doesn't have a memory card.. there's a good reason for that as memory card speeds haven't caught up with in built flash performance so Apple wouldn't comprise. The same applies to the Pixel by Google. FYI Google stopped including memory cards years ago. All the OEMs are going that route now.
Water resistance? This was the first year iPhone included it even then Apple don't cover water damage under their warranty so would a sane person risk dunking their iPhone 7 knowing Apple will not honour their claims.
Anyway I usually look after my phones so don't dunk them in water. The Pixel has enough water resistance for rain protection and spills that is sufficient for me.
Support wise the Pixel is best in class for Android.
And to bait your ignorant comment the Pixel is better than the iPhone 7 in various ways! Camera for starters.
The above is my opinion.. I'm not alone it seems! Just scroll up.
