The 3A's are still too expensive
No 4K
4Gb ram
Low grade screen
Weak SOC.
Single lens camera
64Gb storage
No SD expansion
eMMC 5.1 storage module
Etc, etc, etc.
It's a joke in the present day market
There is a long list of phone better priced, with better specs and performance.

Ice cold deal for me.
Just because this doesn't have 2, 3 or 4 cameras doesn't mean it isn't any good.
It's night sight and astrophotography capabilities are astounding.
I'd never have believed a phone camera could capture such phenomenal detail.
Here's one of my first attempts of the night sky.

This phone will actually get updates in a timely manner, unlike many of the new flagships, whilst the phones in the same price category won't get any most likely. And the security updates will be for 3 years. (From when the phone is launched I believe)

You can get more phone for the money but its good enough in all categories and has a great camera. If a nice and simple UI and updates matter to you, I think its a much better deal than the other bang for your buck phones, hardware really isn't everything.

Seems like RRP is $329 for Google Pixel 3a now (was $399 but advertised as $30 off) - heat added OP 🔥

Back to Currys buddy. Within 14 days, warranty issues are dealt with by Google still.
This is on of the phones I have been keeping an eye on for some time and the P30. I have been offerd A Samsung S10 new for £300 would that be worth it not really looked into the S10?

£300 for the s10 is a bargain.
Been this price at carphone for months ?

Looking at this deal quite a lot. Was offered a pixel 3 XL 64gb for £350 brand new sealed. If anyone knows about phones or pixels what would you do? What's the main differences? Between 3a XL and 3XL?

The 3XL will have better photo processing speed due to the dedicated hardware, but doesn't look as nice (IMO) as the 3a XL.

3a XL also has a 3.5mm headphone port, which the 3XL doesn't have.
I have this phone and this is my opinion of it.

Pros:
+Battery lasts full day on casual use (social media apps) ends at about 30%
+Pictures are great quality (Can keep up with most cameras)
+Unlimited online storage (up to 16mb photos)
+CPU is fast enough for apps + most games (I haven't had lag issues yet)
+Quick charging between from 30 to 80%
+Good Value for money
+google integration is great

Cons:
-Video quality is terrible and it crops it
-screen to size ratio is pretty bad (massive forehead and chin)
-Screen res is ok
-Speakers are ok

3.5mm isn't a game changer for me but i can imagine it might be for some who use aux/wired headphones. I have a pair of on ear senheisers with Bluetooth and I might pick up the Sony WF-1000XM3s when they drop a little bit more. Looks wise 3a wins everytime!

I would consider the Mi 9T over this, I just bought one for £230 recently from Amazon.

3axl
amazing Battery life (best out of any phone I’ve tried)
no huge notch

3xl
better processor
Visual core chip so faster photo processing
wide angle front camera
full res backups to google photos

I've had both For me the battery lasted the whole day on the 3axl while the battery on 3xl only lasted till around 4pm so 3xl lasted 50% longer

An s10 is a flagship phome from samsung

This is a midrange phome from google.

The s10 destroys this in pure specs, software and customer experience are your personal preference.

It's a really great phone especially now under £300, if the camera and the software is your main priority. It doesn't have the raw processing power and the 4gb may be a problem for some. There's not anything in this price bracket to beat it (not until the 4a comes out. Stay away from the normal Pixel 4) for the camera quality and software updates.

However, sorry if I keep harking on about this, but DO NOT for the sake of your own sanity buy from Google Store. I would rather buy from John Lewis or even Argos as you will get customer service as opposed to the god awful customer service from Google.

Complete opposite experience for me. I've had phones from Google and they've replaced them for me whenever I've had an issue. If buying new I always try to buy from Google directly because of the customer service I have received from them.

Wish that was the case for me and appreciate its going to be different for different people.

Until recently was a bug supporter of Google, bought a Nexus 4, 5, Pixel 3 all directly from Google over the years. Then the Pixel 4 was where I had the problems. I returned the phone in November and Google mucked me about so much I had to refer to PayPal Buyer Protection to get my money back.

Not saying it will happen to everyone but just advising people to be cautious.
I bought from the Google store to get the extra 10% store credit from having a Google One account. Saved me £72 in total across 2 phones.

Used "free" money from Google Rewards to pay Google One subscription.

Yeah that's a good bonus of having Google One. I have the 100GB $1.59 plan free for a year - I got the subscription free for having the Pixel Slate that I got at a great price from Google Store, but when I bought the Pixel Slate I had a plan that gave me credit back for purchases

I think it was in your recommendation that I signed up for the Google One account credit.
Pixel 3a is a well balanced phone, hope pixel 4a will be as good as pixel 3a
Cryptogingerman17/02/2020 11:48

YES. You can use 1 esim and 1 physical sim.

Be aware:
Three don't yet support eSim, eSim is pretty much vapourware with regard to Three, they keep announcing 'soon', but moving the date. Also, transferring an EE eSim to a new phone (i.e. your old phone develops a fault), you need a physical esim QR Code pack from the EE store/by post, so it's somewhat restrictive, compared just swapping over a physical sim card to get the replacement phone up and running.

eSims are starting out as just another form of lock-in, Ofcom should crack down on this but don't hold your breath.

You can do that on any phone that has a manual mode, that's another thing the Pixels do not have in 2020.

Never had such good results with other phones. Most serious photography forums rate the Pixels very highly. Some of the excellent results come from the Google AI software hence many people root other phones and run G-cam mods.

Yeah release a free app and people will support it, most that use it don't have good cameras in the first place.
The pixels always does poorly on MKBHD blind tests and most Pro reviews dont like the over processing.
The package lacks versatility compared to the competition and video recording is weak. Just taking a few stills won't make it the best and the honest who review it say they are well over due hardware Improvements.
Oh you don't need to root your phone to use Gcam I recently read there is a release that will work on any phone, now there's brainwashing the lower end modders for you.

I have never seen a review where Gcam beat what was on a device that had a half decent camera, it just produce some better stills.
