Cancel the sim within the first 14 days by ringing 02 to get the phone and chromebook for £324.

I have bought a few phones using this 12 month sim only method and everytime i have got my topcashback cleared and cancelled sim.

To cancel sim only, call 02 and say you want to cancel sim only contract, dont mention about getting a phone, no need to. Judt say you have a sim only contract and have changex your mind. Simple.

Please read the T&C at the retailer before doing this - you risk being charged the full RRP of the phone, summarily without warning - yes others have got away with it, but the retailer has the right & you might not be lucky.

EDIT: Actually a little better now - carphonewarehouse.com/ter…tml - section 6 - you get choice to return phone or pay difference (presumably to CPW selling price at time of order).

It looks legit - the promotion is actually run by Google against the Pixel for the free Chromebook rather than CPW so the contract doesn't seem to come into it. pixel-offers.co.uk/gb/…ome

Cancelling of the 12 month SIM only deals I think is a much greyer area, there is a good post on it here: hotukdeals.com/com…497

You are signing up for a pay monthly contract so a credit check is mandatory: link
You're back?
Haha - love this kinda deal.
How do you cancel the 12 months line rental it’s a 12 month contract with discounted phone isn’t it ? Can’t see where the deal says Sim only anywhere?
Or wouldn’t CPW let O2 no you got that phone ?
this should work but the last time I did this o2 cancelled the contract but continued to take money from my account for 3 months until I had to resort to a charge back. I sent emails multiple phone calls always they admitted their mistake but never corrected it. So my advise is to be careful if you do this

No one has had this done yet but the more people abuse it with 'deals' like this the more likely they will go for the reclaim, which they are legally entitled to do, no matter how people try and justify it. Cancelling a 1 month rolling SIMO is perfectly legit, this is not.
The 3a kinda reminds me of when the affordable Nexus ranges were considered great. Decent enough hardware with stock android for cheap prices.
Having being used to quick phones with virtually no bezels now, this isn't going to cut if for me anymore. Would be interested to try out the camera that all the tech blogs rave about though...

Although I agree, I can't help but think that these type of deals are somewhat designed to be taken advantage of. Take the Pixel 3 deal in Jan for example, that went on for weeks - within that time, I'm sure there were many jobsworths who made O2 and CPW aware of the loophole, but they allowed it to go on.

Also how do you know this particular deal is a SIM Only, as I can't see anything on the page that mentions it? So did someone order it first as a genuine purchase and then realised it was SIM Only on the receipt, once it was delivered? Or are they all SIM Only, if so in which case why wouldn't someone go for a deal thats a lower upfront price, or even go for a free handset deal?

On some of them, people were getting Motorola G series phones for like £40, can’t remember the exact figures but it was basically way below what cost would be.

Maybe they let it slide but I guarantee the day they don’t and try to claw back the cost of the phones, the first people to complain and call it unfair will be the ones who abused it and got 10 phones in a year as someone was bragging about before - as if fraud is clever, because that’s what it is. I don’t think it matters so much if you do it once or twice perhaps but it’s hard work and effort (especially if O2 don’t cancel it, and they are notoriously poor all round) and probably not worth the saving or risk for the majority.

I think it’s SIM only as O2 don’t do 12-month contracts of that package size or cost.
Someone do it this time so we can all see if it works

There could potentially be issues with free Chromebook, depending how funny CPW want to be when it comes to verifying the purchase as you need to cancel within 14 days and you can only start the claim after 14 days.

37610244-hTzg2.jpgI had a chat on the carphonewarehouse last year and confirmed. I have used this method numerous times and also have had around £50 cashback tracked each time. Twice it was not tracked and i put a missing cashback claim with the order date and number and it got accepted even though the sim contract was cancelled. Can provide proof if you wish. (topcashback)
I think £399 is a great price for a smartphone nowadays, and with a free chromebook (which are ace) this is a great deal, just such a shame the phone in android, so for many people it’s just junk. Shame well have to stick to our stupidly priced, getting worse, iOS phones. It’s lose lose at the moment for those that want a decent phone. iPhone 7 is finally a decent price, that’s a great phone, but obviously all second hand.

But am talking about this deal ? There is no information saying it’s sim only is there ? Prove to me it’s sim only and I will go for this and cancel .
I just got the new GoPro 7 black , and there app only works properly on IOS . It doesn’t work on Android at all . And they haven’t sorted it . The app works a dream on Apple products.
Why don’t companies put as much effort into the android version of apps compared to IOS ?

All contracts that are 1 month and 12 month are sim only contracts. You can confirm this yourself with carphonewarehouse.
I went through this with a fine tooth comb last time, I was sceptical but essentially cpw sell you a phone and bundle it with a 12 month Sim. So as far as O2 know, you have taken a 12 month Sim only package from cpw

So when you call up and cancel within your 14 days, O2 only cancel the Sim since they have no knowledge of you having a phone, since it was given to you by carphone warehouse themselves. So it might as well say on the receipt CPW pixel 3a and then on a separate line O2 12 month Sim.

So O2 cancel your sim within your 14 day cooling off, you keep the phone everyone is happy

Have you ever ordered more than one phone in a single order, and if you have did you get the £50 on each phone? I went for the Huawei P Smart deal and got £50 TCB, which seems a bit odd since TCB list £50 only for contracts of 24 months or more.

Yes i know it still tracks as £50. Ive not ordered more than 1 in 1 order.
You are paying for the camera and screen, no new phone at this price comes close. The amount of megapixels means nothing and in fact quite often pictures will look worse worth over inflated mp sensors.

I have an iPhone for work, and an Android personal phone and Android comes out on top for 90%. I don't see why you're against Android here? More apps, infinitely customize-able and less restricted across the board. iOS at this stage is archaic

Rather weirdly, I can't see them in Chrome but can in Firefox (on a Mac).
Quidco offering £70 on both these handsets on pay monthly.

I was literally about to write the same, was just on a live chat asking if this is a monthly or bundled SIM only deal and this was the response, "This is a bundle deal, so it is almost like buying the phone sim free, but you get a discount because you are taking the sim card with."

Not sure if it's worth taking the risk as can potentially get this very cheap, not fussed about Quidco as long as I can cancel the SIM only and still get the laptop for resale.

Just concerned they might treat this as a cancellation when it comes to verifying the Chromebook offer so have the claim denied or just ask to return the phone if I cancel within the 14 days window.

I used this "loophole" successfully for the Huaewei P Smart deal a couple of months back, and there are plenty of reports on here of people using it for various phones. Some have reported that O2 don't always get the cancellation right first time and you have to chase them up, but no-one's reported having the phone taken back after cancelling the contract. I don't see there being a problem with the Chromebook as 1) redemption is through Google (or at least a company acting for them), not CPW and 2) TCB paid out despite cancellation of the contract which to me confirms what people have said about this loophole, that CPW simply don't know about the cancellation. I believe the reason it works with O2 SIM only contracts but not other networks is that O2 don't insist on the cancellation being done by CPW, though some individual CSAs at O2 do in which case you ring off and try again with a different agent.

Because the 24 month contract ties the phone in the contract as well. Whereas when you buy the 1 or 12 month, it clearly states on the receipt as sim only contract.
