Seems to be a good £300 discount on the XL model...if you can put up with the notch.

Not so good a discount on the smaller model unfortunately, only £200.

Problem is not notch (many others have it, though admittedly this is not just a notch but a RNN)

Problem is, this is very expensive considering Pixel 4 around the corner

They really need to get that notch down to sensible proportions!

Other than the camera. Google always seem to muck up when they produce a phone these days. Hopefully they nail it with the 4. OnePlus are hard to beat these days.

Honestly don’t see the point of buying this over a £199 Mi 8, which has the same processor and more RAM, and throwing Pixel Experience on it - and I’m an ardent Pixel 2 XL fanboy.

They've fixed it now so our comments aren't making any sense!
I bought the Pixel 3 a few months ago on O2 refresh when it was reduced. Word of warning, there's a big problem with voice calls that mine and many others are reporting. I can hear other person, but my voice cuts out and often drops the call. Big threads on Google about this.

Shame really, as the rest of the phone is terrific.

Nacho Notch.

You're welcome.

You lose warranty and software support - plus many lack technical skills, risk of ending up with a brick not to be underestimated

But yes, no point buying anything else other than Mi 8 at JL right now if you're a budget power user, unless deep pockets = little price-sensitivity

Where are you finding the Mi 8 for £199?
Is the camera on the Mi 8 even close to a Pixel though?

Only use it if you’re happy with screen burn in

9 months and zero burn so far. But then I don't leave my screen on all day everyday. Not sure there are many that do either. Stop scaremongering.

Not even Mi 9's, but both pretty good cameras for their money (some reviewers are actually rating Mi 8's as better than 9's)

Pixel 3a launched into that territory to appeal to pic lovers (losing flagship specs)

But then mid-rangers now so good they even carry oled screens, powerful processors and quality plastic builds...

With Mi 8 at £200, only hardcore photography fans would go Pixel, if they can stretch to one (second-hand market might yield A grades close to that Mi price point)

To clarify around the corner: if you wait three months, and spend an extra £300.

Personally I'm happy to wait and buy devices at lower prices, even if it means I don't have a new device the moment it's released.

Likewise. What I meant is, if retailers don't discount further, Pixel 3 won't sell enough because smarter and/or less price-sensitive customers will wait it out till October.

3a in the market at lower price point doesn't make it easy for sales of 3rd generation now, so long after release

John Lewis,, 2 year warranty also
I think you can still get it on o2 for £315 by asking for a £75 discount then paying the handset off in full and canceling the contract

Why would hiding the notch cause burn-in?

Why would hiding the notch cause burn-in?

Well if you use nacho than the reception bar and other icons will burn in, if you use the developer options method than you basically have pixel 2 xl, can I just add that I did purchase one when they came out, hid the notch and then tried to sell it recently, restored to factory only to find the notch hide was imprinted in a yellowish hue
